Gas tank explosion in HCMC: Woman with 95% burns is 26 weeks pregnant

On the afternoon of October 18, a source at Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC) said that doctors there were trying to treat a patient who suffered severe burns in a gas tank explosion in a rented room in HCMC that occurred the same morning.

Specifically, the patient is Ms. LTHC (33 years old), hospitalized with 95% second-third degree gas burns, 40% third degree burns all over her body. The patient is 26 weeks pregnant with her fourth child.

Currently, the patient is in severe burn shock, pulse and blood pressure cannot be measured, is being treated intensively at the Burn and Plastic Surgery Department, Cho Ray Hospital, with a reserved prognosis.

As Dan Tri reported, at around 4am on October 18, people living in an alley on To Ngoc Van Street (Tam Binh Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) were sleeping when they heard a loud explosion. After that, there were screams for help coming from a rented room deep in the alley.

People rushed to the scene of the explosion and saw Ms. LTHC (33 years old) severely burned, her clothes were burnt. In the rented room, the furniture was in disarray and burned black. Immediately, they helped take Ms. C. to Thu Duc City Hospital for emergency treatment, then continued to transfer the victim to Cho Ray Hospital in critical condition.

Mr. Le Huu Hao, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tam Binh Ward, Thu Duc City, confirmed the above explosion and said that the cause was a gas tank explosion. It is known that at the time of the explosion, the patient's husband was working at the Thu Duc agricultural wholesale market and was not at home.

Thu Duc City Police are examining the scene to investigate and clarify the incident.
