Recently, the Vietnamese Ambassador to New Zealand and concurrently to the Cook Islands, Phan Minh Giang, made a working visit to the Cook Islands and presented his credentials to Tom Marsters, the representative of King Charles III of the United Kingdom in the Cook Islands.

The presentation of credentials was held solemnly in the capital city of Avarua, Rarotonga, with the attendance of representatives from the Royal Chambers of Deputies of King Charles III, the Government, and the Cook Islands Department for Foreign Affairs and Immigration.

At the ceremony for receiving the Letters of Credence, Tom Marsters, the UK's Representative to the Cook Islands, highly appreciated the fact that the Cook Islands and Vietnam officially established diplomatic relations in April 2022, shaping a long-term vision for the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Expressing admiration for Vietnam's development achievements and appreciating its increasingly important role and position in the region and internationally, the representative of King Charles III of the United Kingdom affirmed that the Cook Islands values ​​its relationship with Vietnam and is committed to jointly cultivating and deepening cooperation between the two countries in priority areas of mutual interest, making positive contributions to ensuring peace , stability, and sustainable economic development.

Speaking at the ceremony, expressing his honor to assume the responsibility of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to the Cook Islands, Ambassador Phan Minh Giang affirmed that he will make every effort to contribute to promoting the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries to develop positively in areas of mutual interest and strength, as well as strengthening coordination and mutual support in regional and international multilateral forums.

During his visit to present his credentials, Ambassador Phan Minh Giang held meetings and working sessions with representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, the Ministry of Agriculture , the Ministry of Marine Resources, the Cook Islands Tourism Authority, and the Cook Islands Chamber of Commerce; he also met with several local businesses to discuss directions and measures to exploit the potential and opportunities for enhanced cooperation between the two countries.

The Cook Islands are an archipelago nation in the South Pacific, with a population of approximately 26,000 people. Comprising 15 islands, the nation has a total land area of ​​about 240 square kilometers and spans 2.2 million square kilometers of sea surface. Vietnam and the Cook Islands officially established diplomatic relations on April 26, 2022.
