Border patrol and protection
Every year, when the rainy season begins, the Vinh Nguon Border Guard Station Command mobilizes maximum means and equipment, arranges forces to patrol and control the assigned border section. Fishing activities of residents on both sides of the border are bustling. People often go to the fields to set traps, set hooks, cast nets, etc., so there is a risk of violating border regulations and disputes, causing insecurity and disorder. Faced with this reality, the border guard force has stepped up propaganda to raise people's awareness of law enforcement, not to encroach on border lines and landmarks, not to steal or destroy fishing gear. At the same time, it encourages people to be vigilant and promptly report to the border guard station when they detect strangers or unusual signs.
Mr. Nguyen Van Bi, a farmer in Chau Doc ward, shared: “Border guards regularly patrol and disseminate laws, so people feel secure. The two sides of the border are in harmony, without any disputes. Whenever I fish or cast nets, if I see strangers entering the border area, I immediately report it to the border guards.”

They use motorboats to travel dozens of kilometers along the border to check border markers, monitor security, detect crimes and propagate and mobilize people to strictly comply with regulations during the flood season.
Lieutenant Colonel Vo Huy Hoang - Head of Vinh Nguon Border Guard Station said that the unit has proactively prepared plans to carry out tasks during the flood season. In addition to organizing tight patrols, Vinh Nguon Border Guard Station also coordinates with other forces to close the area. "We take the people as the center, the "eyes and ears" in protecting the border, fighting and preventing crime. In recent years, the border section that the unit is in charge of has always been stable, crime has decreased significantly, and people's lives have improved," said Lieutenant Colonel Vo Huy Hoang.
Comprehensive coordination, outstanding achievements
Along with patrolling and controlling, Vinh Nguon Border Guard Station also closely coordinates with local departments, branches and organizations to go to each hamlet, village and village to distribute leaflets, propagate the law and mobilize the whole population to participate in denouncing crimes. Many self-management movements of border lines and landmarks have been launched, with the participation of the elderly, prestigious people among ethnic minorities, religious dignitaries... contributing to preventing the situation of assisting in smuggling or violating border regulations.
Ms. Le Thi Trang - Head of the Women's Association of Ba Bai Hamlet, Chau Doc Ward said: "Women, Youth Union, veterans and border guards coordinate very well in the work of propagating the law. We established a women's group to protect the border, a self-governing group to maintain security and order, and a safe fishing group. Movements such as "Criminal-free hamlet", "No bad children", "No helping smugglers" have been promoted, bringing practical results".
