Overcome all difficulties to compete to teach well and study well

Comrade Nguyen Kim Son - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Education and Training said that this is a meeting and exchange between the Minister, leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training, departments and offices with all teachers to get closer together, to understand their thoughts and aspirations, and to share to increase common strength.

Concluding the meeting, Minister Nguyen Kim Son acknowledged, praised and expressed his deep gratitude for the teachers' support for the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training, for the policies of the Ministry of Education and Training as well as their efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges during the past time, especially during the time of both fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuring the implementation of teaching and learning tasks.

According to Minister Nguyen Kim Son, the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training determined that developing the teaching staff is an important factor, a sustainable foundation, and the most decisive factor to complete the task of innovation and improving the quality of education. Developing the teaching staff is the solution of all solutions.

To effectively implement the 2018 general education program, the Minister hopes that teachers will innovate themselves from concept, awareness, to methods, without fear, hesitation, or avoidance. Innovation is a process, so according to the Minister, it needs to be carried out step by step. The Minister believes that to achieve depth and substance in the 2018 general education program, changes need to be made in each element and each subject; it is necessary to change teaching, testing, and assessment in each subject, without excluding any subject.

Teachers need to change their concept and the way they use textbooks. Accordingly, in this major change, the program is unique and unified nationwide; textbooks are learning materials. Therefore, it is necessary to use textbooks proactively, without dependence, and consider them as tools.

Regarding the role of the principal, Minister Nguyen Kim Son emphasized that if the principal does not innovate, changes in teachers will be very difficult and may lead to conflicts. The principal must be the one to lead, gather, support, and serve his or her colleagues.

Minister Nguyen Kim Son said that in the coming time, the Ministry of Education and Training will review policies and the development of the Law on Teachers can create positive institutional changes.

The Ministry of Education and Training will do many things to ensure that the public and private education sectors are equal in practice; continue to propose and work with ministries and branches to increase preferential allowances, find ways to increase income sources for teachers, improve facilities, working conditions, and public housing for teachers, take care of special subjects and teams in remote areas; amend Circular 16/2017/TT-BGDDT, dated July 12, 2017 on guidelines for the list of job position frameworks and quotas for the number of people working in public general education institutions...

Minister Nguyen Kim Son hopes that teachers will be steadfast in the goals of innovation and the strategic directions of the sector. Be persistent, persuade and mobilize parents and society to share and accompany the education and training sector. Resolutely fight against backwardness, conservatism, negativity and resolutely pursue the goals of quality and human development. Be steadfast in the education profession, the glory of the profession and overcome all difficulties to compete in teaching well and learning well.
