Wharton insists he is not concerned about rumors about MU. |
Over the past time, Wharton has been continuously linked with MU. Coach Ruben Amorim considers him the top target to strengthen the midfield for the "Red Devils" in the January 2026 transfer window. However, Wharton is indifferent to all the speculation.
Sharing with The Athletic , the 21-year-old midfielder said: "I don't pay much attention. Social media is always full of rumors. Friends, relatives, everyone texted me asking if MU was really interested. I just smiled and said: 'Thanks to everyone telling me, I know that'."
"They told me that MU was watching me, but I didn't know who was watching. I saw the news, said 'Yeah', and continued my work. Big teams like MU are always associated with 10, 20 names, so if I was one of them, it wouldn't be special. What's important is how you perform on the pitch, proving that you deserve that opportunity," Wharton concluded.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Crystal Palace's board of directors are negotiating to keep Wharton for the long term. Romano revealed: "Wharton is happy at Palace and understands that this is the best place to develop his current career. However, Wharton's future is still open if an irresistible offer appears next summer."
In addition to MU, Real Madrid is also said to have been interested in Wharton after parting ways with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. According to The Times , the price for any club to own Wharton is not less than 70 million pounds.
