Che Tao commune currently has more than 19,300 hectares of forest, accounting for over 82% of the total natural area of the commune. Of which, special-use forests are more than 13,500 hectares, protective forests are nearly 3,500 hectares and production forests are about 2,400 hectares. Each year, this forest area brings in more than 14 billion VND in revenue. With revenue from forest protection, people's awareness of the role of forests in the environment and water resources for daily life and production is increasingly enhanced. Thanks to that, forest management and protection in Che Tao commune in recent years has always been preserved and developed sustainably.

At the festival, delegates and people reviewed the tradition of preserving and protecting forests of the highland people over the years. Many meaningful activities were organized, such as: singing contests, storytelling, performing skits to propagate forestry laws; displaying handicrafts, agricultural products and medicinal herbs from the forest; introducing livelihood models associated with forests; and decorating heritage trees. In addition, folk games created a lively atmosphere, contributing to spreading the message: "Forests are precious assets - protecting forests is protecting life."

A large number of people participated in the festival.
Within the framework of the festival, Che Tao commune organized a signing ceremony of a commitment to coordinate forest management and protection with 5 neighboring communes, including: Lao Chai, Pung Luong, Chieng Lao (Son La province) and Khoen On, Muong Kim ( Lai Chau province). The commitment focuses on sharing information, coordinating inter-line patrols, preventing forest encroachment and promptly handling areas at risk of forest fires and deforestation.

The Green Forest Festival and the commitment signing ceremony are practical activities that contribute to strengthening the sense of responsibility of the government and the community to join hands in protecting upstream forests, towards sustainable development.
