
Attending the workshop were Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sinh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Tran Ngoc Chinh - Chairman of the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association; representatives of the National Institute of Architecture, Department of Architectural Planning ( Ministry of Construction ); leaders of some provincial departments and branches along with scientists, experts, and architects in the field of urban planning and development.

In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sinh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: With the participation of leading scientists , experts and architects, Lao Cai province believes that the workshop will receive many profound contributions and breakthrough solutions, creating an important scientific basis for the province to perfect its vision, adjust planning and issue appropriate management policies, bringing Sa Pa to develop according to its potential, not only as a unique national tourist destination of international stature but also as a green, sustainable urban area.
Over the past 120 years of formation and development, Sa Pa has transformed from a pristine indigenous land into a national and international eco-tourism city, where heritage, identity and modernity meet. In recent years, Sa Pa has achieved many achievements in urban planning, architecture and development, contributing to shaping the image of a dynamic, friendly and attractive tourist city; technical and social infrastructure is increasingly synchronized.



During the workshop and discussion, delegates presented many papers and discussed the current situation, causes, vision and solutions for planning and developing Sa Pa urban tourism in the regional linkage. Experts also proposed strategies and solutions for planning and developing Sa Pa urban and tourism infrastructure in the direction of "green - smart - adapting to climate change".


In his closing speech at the workshop, Mr. Tran Ngoc Chinh - Chairman of the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association said that Sa Pa holds a special position in the development of the Northwest region, and is one of the brands that needs to do better to connect with the socio-economic development of the North of our country and the Southwest region (China). The planning and organization of Sa Pa tourism space must first of all originate from indigenous culture, harmoniously combining with natural landscapes and modern urban space.
The workshop recorded positive and profound contributions from the team of scientists, experts and architects. This is the basis for Lao Cai province and Sa Pa ward to complete the planning, aiming to build Sa Pa into a leading tourist destination, green, smart, modern, adaptable to climate change and develop harmoniously and sustainably.
