Tan Hoi Commune: Social Security - A Bright Spot in Front Work

Promoting the role of solidarity among all classes of people, in recent years, the Fatherland Front of Tan Hoi commune (Cai Lay town, Tien Giang province) has actively promoted, mobilized, and called for the cooperation of organizations, individuals, businesses, and philanthropists to care for the poor and people in difficult circumstances. Thereby, contributing to the good implementation of social security work, promoting socio-economic development in the locality. In recent times, the work of ensuring social security and caring for the poor has always been of interest to Tan Hoi commune in many good, creative, and practical ways. In particular, the Fatherland Front of the commune has promoted the strength of the great national solidarity bloc, mobilized all resources to carry out social security work well, gradually improving people's lives, contributing to the completion of political goals and tasks, socio-economic development, and advanced new rural construction of the locality.

Tan Hoi Commune Fatherland Front mobilizes to build rural traffic bridges.

Identifying social security work as one of the key tasks of the Fatherland Front, activities to care for and help the poor and disadvantaged people to improve their lives are continued to be launched and effectively promoted by the grassroots Fatherland Front.

The family of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Anh, residing in Tan Hiep Hamlet, Tan Hoi Commune, is poor and in difficult circumstances. Every day, Mrs. Anh survives thanks to the sharing and help of her neighbors. Many years ago, Mrs. Anh’s family received support to build a charity house, which is now dilapidated, but she has no money to repair it.

Recently, Ms. Anh received financial support to build a solidarity house from the Fund for the Poor of Tien Giang Province, sponsored by Tien Giang Lottery Company Limited with 50 million VND. Upon receiving the new house, Ms. Anh was moved to express her gratitude to the departments and levels for their support in helping her family have a new house.

Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tan Hoi Commune, Nguyen Thi Anh Hong, said that every year, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune consults with the Party Committee and coordinates with the government to develop many programs and plans to effectively implement social security work, taking care of the poor and vulnerable groups in society. At the same time, responding to and launching the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - leaving no one behind", mobilizing the Fund for the Poor, Peak Month for the Poor...

The Commune Fatherland Front regularly coordinates with member organizations to mobilize and receive funding sources, organize visits and give gifts to poor households, people in difficult circumstances, policy families, and people with meritorious services on holidays, National Solidarity Day (November 18)... In particular, the program to help and care for the poor during Tet has received support from many businesses, philanthropists and people from all walks of life.

In 2024, the Fatherland Front of Tan Hoi commune mobilized over 100 million VND from the Fund for the Poor and other social resources. From there, the commune promptly supported the construction and repair of houses for poor and near-poor households. In addition, the Fatherland Front of the commune also coordinated with member organizations such as the Red Cross, Women's Union, Youth Union... to organize many activities to care for poor and near-poor households, and vulnerable groups, with over 1,500 people benefiting from the social security programs of the Fatherland Front of the commune.

With the active efforts of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organizations of Tan Hoi commune, it has created a widespread influence, promoting the spirit of "mutual love and support" in the community, the solidarity and unanimity of the whole society, contributing with all levels and sectors to effectively carry out the work of caring for the poor and social security programs in the commune.

In addition, patriotic emulation movements such as "All people unite to build new rural areas (NTM), civilized urban areas", "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods", "All people protect national security"... are effectively integrated by the Fatherland Front of Tan Hoi commune into social security work. Each movement not only raises community awareness but also creates more resources and opportunities for people to escape poverty sustainably.

In early 2025, Tan Hoi was recognized as a commune that met advanced NTM standards. That success had an important role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune in gathering and uniting the people to join hands in building the NTM. Comrade Nguyen Thi Anh Hong added: “Determining that the people are the main subjects in building the NTM, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune has developed a plan, done a good job of propaganda and mobilization to change people's awareness of the benefits of building advanced NTM.

At the same time, coordinate with organizations to do a good job of socialization, mobilize people to donate land and working days to support the construction of new rural areas in the locality. To build Tan Hoi commune to meet advanced new rural standards, with the core role, the commune Fatherland Front actively mobilizes people to participate in economic development, build cultural life in residential areas, contributing to maintaining and improving new rural criteria.
