Vietnamese shooter wins right to attend 2024 Paris Olympics

Trinh Thu Vinh is the representative of the Vietnamese team participating in the Women's 10m Air Pistol event at the World Championships held in Baku (Azerbaijan). In the final round held this afternoon (August 17), the Vietnamese athlete ranked 5th out of 8 competing shooters.

The athlete born in 2000 scored a total of 175.6 points and was eliminated after the 6th round. However, she still won the right to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics thanks to this ranking.

The Women's 10m Air Pistol event at the World Championships will take the top three athletes to the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, athletes who have qualified for the Olympics through previous results will not be counted in these three places.

Among the 4 athletes ranked above Trinh Thu Vinh, there is 1 Chinese athlete and 1 Greek athlete. Jiang Ranxin (China) has already qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Meanwhile, the Greek team has 2 athletes (the maximum number) to participate in this event of the Olympics. Therefore, 3 Olympic spots through the world championship in Azerbaijan this time are reserved for Li Xue (China), Fabian Sara Rahel (Hungary) and Trinh Thu Vinh (Vietnam).

Trinh Thu Vinh is the second Vietnamese athlete to qualify for the Paris Olympics. The first was Nguyen Thi That (cycling) after she won the Asian Championship.
