Van Thang Commune has evacuated 60 people in the landslide risk area to a safe place.

On the afternoon of November 6, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Y - Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Thang commune said that to ensure the safety of people in areas at risk of landslides and flooding, the locality has developed a plan for evacuation and organized effective implementation.

Accordingly, in the commune, there are about 133 households with 463 people who need to be relocated. Up to now, the locality has relocated 60 people in Phu Hoi 3 village to a safe communal house; and relocated 1 disabled person living in a flood-prone area in Binh Trung 1 village to a communal house.

Along with that, the locality has done a good job of preparing materials and locations to respond to storms, specifically: Distributing to villages, agencies and units 50 raincoats, 500 sandbags, 13 portable speakers, 4 folding beds, 20 flashlights; arranging 15 warning signs in areas at risk of deep flooding and landslides; distributing to villages 45 life jackets and 90 round buoys, ropes, 23 tents; mobilizing 17 chainsaws and other necessary equipment for flood and storm response work...

The locality also arranged additional forces including: 10-person local militia team and 10-person shock force per village; arranged forces to support people in strengthening their houses and increased propaganda forces to mobilize people to implement storm prevention and control measures.

In addition, the locality has deployed forces to call on fishermen and aquaculture farmers to return to shore and boats to safe storm shelters. Up to now, 100% of boats in the area have returned to safe storm shelters.
