On December 24, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province coordinated with the Provincial Women's Union and the People's Committee of Binh Tan district to organize a Culinary Contest and set a Vietnamese record with 100 dishes made from Binh Tan sweet potatoes.
This is an activity within the framework of the 3rd Vinh Long Provincial Tourism Festival in 2023 taking place from December 23-25. At the program, 20 teams competed in preparing dishes and drinks with diverse colors and flavors from the main ingredient of Binh Tan sweet potatoes.

As a result, the Organizing Committee awarded the First Prize to the Women's Union of My Thuan Commune, Binh Tan District. In particular, through the process of supervision and implementation of counting and appraisal, the representative of the Supervisory Board of the Vietnam Record Organization (VietKings) recorded the total number of dishes made from Binh Tan sweet potatoes at the event as 100 dishes, made by 20 teams.
The representative of the Vietnam Record Council has officially awarded the decision to set the Vietnam Record with the content "The event of processing and performing the most dishes and drinks from Binh Tan sweet potatoes in Vietnam" (100 dishes) to the People's Committee of Binh Tan district.
Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province Phan Van Giau said that Binh Tan district is a place that concentrates the production of many famous potato varieties such as pumpkin potato, milky white potato, pearl potato, Japanese purple sweet potato...
The area of sweet potato cultivation by farmers in the area reaches more than 10,000 hectares/year, with an average output of over 300,000 tons/year, so this place is also known as the "Kingdom of Sweet Potatoes."
Inspired by the main agricultural crop of Binh Tan district, sweet potato, the Organizing Committee of the contest hopes to contribute to honoring and promoting the material and spiritual cultural values of sweet potato, while promoting the economic value of processed products from sweet potatoes, promoting the development of the potato agricultural industry associated with creating a local image, building unique products, attracting tourists to visit Vinh Long province.
The contest also creates a useful playground, exchange and promote creativity for those who love food, an opportunity for chefs to show their creativity, acting as a "Culinary Ambassador" to convey the values of local cuisine to domestic and foreign tourists.
In addition to the culinary competition, setting a record of 100 dishes made from Binh Tan sweet potatoes, the program also includes activities to display and sell sweet potato products to serve customers to introduce and promote the image and flavor of delicious dishes made from sweet potatoes, affirming the value and brand of Binh Tan sweet potatoes.
