Urgently complete the planning of Dong Thap province
On October 7, the Government Office issued Notice No. 404/TB-VPCP on the conclusion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the working session with the leaders of Dong Thap province.
The announcement stated that the Prime Minister has given a number of directions, tasks and solutions for Dong Thap province in the coming time.
In particular, Dong Thap province effectively implements the economic development strategy based on the following pillars: Agricultural economy is the driving force; agricultural processing industry, construction materials, renewable energy, and supporting industries are breakthroughs.
Dong Thap is researching and establishing a master plan to "build Dong Thap into a pioneering and model province in ecological agriculture, modern countryside, and civilized farmers" based on the foundation of science and technology, innovation, and the heroic revolutionary historical tradition of Dong Thap.
Focus on digital transformation, green transformation, sharing economy, circular economy, especially in the agricultural sector, striving to become a model for the whole country.
The Prime Minister requested the province to urgently complete the Provincial Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, in October 2023, with innovative thinking, strategic vision, promoting distinct potential, outstanding opportunities, competitive advantages, creating new momentum and development space; organize the announcement and publicization of the planning so that people can monitor the implementation of the planning.
Developing high-tech processing industry; renewable energy. Developing synchronous and effective transportation network, infrastructure of industrial parks, border economic zones (highways, connecting roads, rural roads, bridges for people).
Planning and construction of inland ports and inland waterways. Strengthening management and protection of resources (water resources, special-use forests and biodiversity); protecting the environment, especially canals and ditches.
There must be effective scenarios and solutions to adapt to climate change and the exploitation and use of Mekong River water resources and transboundary water resources by upstream countries; handling subsidence, landslides and flooding must be associated with planning and population arrangement, especially flood-proof residential areas.
Transition to agricultural economic thinking
The province must strongly transform its thinking from agricultural production to agricultural economic thinking, participate in the global supply chain effectively; diversify products, improve competitiveness, and actively integrate and cooperate sustainably with partners.
Developing sustainable organic agriculture; high-tech aquaculture associated with processing industry to increase product value; forming key industry chains associated with brand building, ensuring stable raw material areas, and increasing production of OCOP products.
At the same time, develop tourism associated with historical traditions, cultural identity, suitable to natural conditions, and unique and specific tourism products (agricultural eco-tourism associated with OCOP products, lotus products, etc.).
