In recent years, in addition to issuing policies to encourage and support agricultural development, Thai Binh province has also promoted the development of OCOP products in the livestock and aquaculture sectors, bringing practical effects in promoting and consuming products, contributing to economic stability for OCOP entities.

To help farmers access and master production techniques, build multi-value integrated OCOP products to meet market demands, Thai Binh province has actively supported people in sustainable development, while promoting and widely consuming agricultural products. With more than 40 OCOP products from livestock and aquaculture, Thai Binh affirms its quality and reputation, contributing to enhancing the value of local agricultural production.

As of October 2024, Thai Binh province had 194 products that met the standards and were recognized as OCOP products, of which the livestock and aquaculture sectors contributed more than 40 products. Products from these two sectors not only met OCOP standards but also gradually affirmed their quality and reputation with consumers.

This has opened up a new direction for economic development for farmers and local businesses, especially in rural areas in the province. For example, in Duyen Hai commune, Hung Ha district, some entities have taken advantage of OCOP to develop tilapia products. With main products such as boneless tilapia, tilapia braised in soy sauce, and tilapia floss loved by the people. On average, 4-5 quintals of commercial tilapia are consumed every day and 1.5-2 quintals of boneless tilapia are sold.

Taking advantage of its coastal location, Thai Thuy district has actively implemented the OCOP program over the past four years. To date, the district has 40 typical products recognized, of which 12 come from livestock and aquaculture.

These products not only build a prestigious brand, but also contribute significantly to increasing income, creating jobs for people, and promoting socio-economic development in rural areas. Thai Thuy's marine products are favored by people inside and outside the province. For example, anchovy products in Thuy Xuan commune. Some people have invested up to 1 billion VND to build a closed processing factory.

Thuy Xuan anchovy products have a strong flavor and identity of the sea, some anchovy producers have been recognized as 3-star OCOP. Thanks to the market's preference, especially in big cities, anchovies here currently sell 3-5 tons of dried fish per month, creating jobs for dozens of workers with an income of 7-8 million VND per person per month.

Or in Tien Hai district, some livestock units have also achieved many successes after their products from eggs and sea ducks were recognized as 4-star OCOP. The products not only increase in value but are also favored by consumers in supermarkets in and outside the province. In addition, these two products were also recognized as "Vietnam's Golden Agricultural Brand" in 2021.

OCOP products are evaluated and classified based on a set of national criteria, considering many aspects such as product quality, community and cultural values, as well as production and commercial capacity of the production unit. This classification not only affirms quality but also opens up new development opportunities for production entities, while creating conditions for them to access support mechanisms and policies from the state.

Notably, some localities have established OCOP Associations. In Tien Hai district, the OCOP Association was established with 27 members who are OCOP producers. The Association has been successful in promoting the “14/10 Agricultural Products” brand and connecting consumption markets for the district’s OCOP products. This has helped many farmers increase their revenue and expand their markets.

Many business households, cooperatives and enterprises have chosen livestock and aquatic products such as ducks, frogs, shrimp and fish to invest in processing machinery, creating local specialty products. Thanks to that, most products are consumed stably, bringing profits and encouraging entities to continue investing and improving product quality to meet the increasing demands of the market.

A representative of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vu Thu district said that with its existing potential and the promotion of innovation and application of science and technology, the district's OCOP products are expected to continue to develop strongly. From 2021 to present, Vu Thu district has had 30 products recognized as OCOP, of which 16 products achieved 4 stars and 14 products achieved 3 stars.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thai Binh province, the development of production linkages according to the agricultural value chain combined with the OCOP program has brought high economic efficiency.

After being certified as OCOP, many livestock and aquaculture products have been improved in quality, design and ensured food hygiene and safety. To date, there are 128 production facilities in 8 districts and cities in the province with OCOP products. Of these, there are 37 enterprises, 48 cooperatives, and 43 business households, with a total of 194 OCOP products meeting 3-star and 4-star standards, of which more than 40 products are in the livestock and aquaculture sector. The development of OCOP products not only brings economic value but also enhances the competitiveness of Thai Binh's agricultural products in the market.

In 2024, the whole Thai Binh province strives to consolidate and develop 60-70 economic organizations and production households to expand the scale of products participating in the OCOP program, prioritizing the development of cooperatives and small and medium enterprises. At least 50% of OCOP entities participate in modern sales channels; there are 1-2 craft village products with production facilities that are assessed and recognized as achieving OCOP 3-star or higher.

In the next phase, Thai Binh province will continue to implement new agricultural production models associated with OCOP product development, focusing on replicating models that bring high economic value throughout the province. Thereby contributing to the effective implementation of the One Commune One Product Program, increasing income for local people. At the same time, focusing on ensuring product quality associated with local advantages, thereby creating sustainable development for each OCOP agricultural product.
