A seven-seat car carrying 14 people plunged off a cliff in Guangxi province, southern China, into a lake below, killing 11 victims.
The accident occurred on the morning of May 19 on the road through Tu Minh village, Jingxi city, Guangxi province, when a Toyota Highlander car plunged off a cliff on a mountain road. Authorities said the car had 7 seats, but was carrying twice the number of people allowed.

The accident occurred in a mountainous area in southern China, near the border with Vietnam. Initial information shows that 11 people on board the vehicle were killed, with three survivors.
Jimu News quoted a source from the Jingxi Emergency Response Center as saying that the place where the vehicle fell was not a natural lake, but a wastewater reservoir from a nearby coal mine. The crashed vehicle was lifted out of the lake.
Chinese authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and the identities of the victims.
