A large number of vehicles traveling through Hai Van Pass after the Lunar New Year holiday caused prolonged traffic congestion here.
According to Dan Viet reporters, after the Lunar New Year holiday, on February 2 (the 5th day of Tet), thousands of people from the northern provinces traveled by motorbike and car over Hai Van pass to Da Nang city to study and work.
Due to the increased number of vehicles, traffic on Hai Van Pass is locally congested.
People carrying their belongings cross Hai Van Pass on the 5th day of Tet.
Most of the people who crossed the pass were students and workers from Quang Binh, Ha Tinh , Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue...
Mr. Dinh An (residing in Quang Tri province) shared: "After Tet holiday, my wife and I returned to Da Nang to work. I didn't expect so many people to travel today."
Motorbikes, cars and buses jostled each other, inching forward.
In front of the Hai Van Quan relic site, cars and motorbikes lined up, congested for more than 1km when the number of vehicles traveling on the pass was too high.
Motorbikes weave between long lines of cars to move.
According to the leader of Hoa Hiep Gate Traffic Police Station (Traffic Police Department of Da Nang City Police), to ensure traffic order and safety on Hai Van Pass, the unit coordinated with local police to organize patrols to promptly detect and prevent illegal racing, and expel cases of illegal parking. At the top of the pass, the Station also arranged forces to direct traffic, regulate traffic, and instruct drivers to drop off tourists and leave immediately to avoid congestion.
Hai Van Pass is 20 km long, the border between Thua Thien Hue province and Da Nang city, cutting across the Bach Ma mountain range. The pass is about 500 m above sea level. To travel between the two localities, in addition to the winding pass, people can choose to transfer via the Hai Van tunnel.
