Xiaomi issued about 750 million Class B shares at prices ranging from HK$52.80 to HK$54.60 ($6.74 to $6.97) per share, Reuters reported, representing a 4.2% to 7.4% discount to its previous closing price. This is one of Xiaomi's largest fundraising rounds since its listing on the Hong Kong stock exchange in 2018.

The proceeds from this issuance are expected to be used by Xiaomi to expand its business globally, increase investment in technology research and development, especially in the fields of smartphones, consumer electronics and smart electric vehicles.

Xiaomi recently reported a nearly 50% increase in fourth-quarter 2024 revenue and raised its 2025 electric vehicle delivery target to 350,000 units, up from the previously forecast 300,000. The company also said it would expand its store network across China and plans to open 10,000 more Mi Home stores internationally over the next five years.

Not only Xiaomi, many large Chinese technology companies are also stepping up capital mobilization through stock issuance. In the first quarter of 2025, the total amount of capital mobilized from the stock market by Chinese technology companies reached nearly 17 billion USD, double that of the same period last year.

Xiaomi is now one of the world's largest technology brands, second only to Apple and Samsung in smartphone sales. The company has also seen impressive growth in smartwatches and consumer electronics. Recently, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra flagship, launched in March 2025, quickly took the top spot in PhoneArena's camera rankings.

In Vietnam, Xiaomi continues to expand its product portfolio with plans to launch home appliances such as air conditioners and refrigerators this year, in addition to its flagship products such as smartphones, tablets, wearables and air purifiers. After entering the Vietnamese TV market in 2022, the company is also expanding into products such as water purifiers and smart devices for pets.

The successful raising of 5.27 billion USD not only helps Xiaomi strengthen its financial potential but also demonstrates its ambition to expand and capture global market share in the context of increasingly fierce competition in the technology market.
