Handling more than 7,500 "drunk" drivers during 3 days of New Year's holiday

During the 3-day holiday, local traffic police inspected, detected and handled more than 25,500 cases of road traffic violations; fined more than 58 billion VND, temporarily detained 315 cars and more than 9,500 motorbikes, and revoked more than 5,200 driving licenses of all types.

Of these, there were more than 7,500 cases of alcohol concentration violations; 35 cases of drug violations; more than 5,100 cases of speed violations; and 354 cases of vehicle body extensions, oversize, and overloading.

In addition, highway traffic control patrol teams detected and handled 409 violations through the monitoring system.

Waterway traffic police have inspected, detected and handled 395 violations, fined more than 1.1 billion VND, railway police have detected and handled 12 violations, fined 4 million VND.

Speaking to Dan Tri reporter, a representative of the Traffic Police Department ( Ministry of Public Security ) said that in 2023, the national traffic police force handled more than 3.4 million violations, fined more than 6.5 trillion VND, revoked more than 660,000 driving licenses, and detained more than 1 million vehicles of all kinds.

Of which, more than 770,000 cases of alcohol concentration violations were handled.

In addition, the authorities also detected and handled more than 2,900 cases of drivers with drugs in their bodies; driving in the wrong lane or on the wrong road in nearly 75,000 cases; overloading goods in more than 101,000 cases; speeding in more than 663,000 cases; illegally overtaking in more than 10,000 cases; not wearing helmets in more than 424,000 cases.
