The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a document directing departments, branches and localities to strengthen coordination and strictly handle organizations and individuals involved in the production and trade of fake drugs, fake milk and fake health protection foods.

A pharmacy business was discovered by authorities selling fake milk.

Specifically, direct the Department of Health and the Department of Food Safety to strengthen inspection of compliance with pharmaceutical laws for establishments trading in drugs, milk, and food (including health protection foods) in the area and strictly handle violations according to regulations. Coordinate with the City Police in investigating and handling cases of production and trading of fake drugs, drugs of unknown origin, fake milk, and fake health protection foods.

Coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade and relevant agencies to strengthen measures to control and prevent counterfeit drugs, drugs of unknown origin, fake milk and fake health protection foods circulating on the market. Review problems and inadequacies in legal regulations on pharmaceuticals and food safety to promptly propose and recommend amendments and supplements to competent authorities.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to step up inspection and supervision of circulation and distribution activities at retail channels, agents, e-commerce platforms, etc. to promptly detect, prevent and strictly handle the production and trade of counterfeit goods. Coordinate with relevant departments, branches and agencies to strengthen the activities of the City's Steering Committee 389, resolutely deploy tasks and solutions in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, production and trading of counterfeit and poor-quality goods, especially counterfeit drugs, fake milk and fake health protection foods.

In addition, the Department of Culture and Sports is assigned to strengthen inspection activities on compliance with legal regulations on advertising, especially advertising of goods such as medicines, milk and health protection foods. Coordinate with the City Police, the Department of Health, the Department of Food Safety and relevant agencies in reviewing, promptly preventing and strictly handling violations in advertising activities in the press, on the internet environment, on social networking platforms, on publications related to cases of production and trade of fake medicines, fake milk and fake health protection foods.

The City Police will speed up the investigation process if any cases of production and trade of fake drugs, fake milk and fake health supplements are discovered; coordinate with relevant agencies to promptly handle them in accordance with the law. Continue to monitor the situation, promptly detect, prevent and not let any violations slip through, and handle any violations of the law related to the production and trade of fake drugs, fake milk and fake health supplements.

Departments, branches, People's Committees of districts, towns and Thu Duc City, according to their functions, tasks and authority, organize peak periods of general review and inspection; send inspection results reports by the end of May 31 to the Department of Health (for drugs) and the Department of Food Safety (for milk and health protection foods) before June 3 to synthesize and report to the City People's Committee.
