In the face of traffic accidents involving drivers operating vehicles beyond the prescribed time, leading to loss of control of the steering wheel, drowsiness and serious accidents; to control this behavior, according to regulations, all means of transporting goods and passengers must be equipped with journey monitoring devices.
However, during patrols and inspections, many drivers did not use their driver identification cards or used other drivers' identification cards to log in, had cameras recording images in the cockpit but they were ineffective, drove past the prescribed time... posing a potential risk of accidents.
A driver was fined for having a tracking device but not using it.
In addition to increasing propaganda to drivers about the use of journey monitoring devices, the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police also increases handling of vehicles that do not use journey monitoring devices to prevent unfortunate traffic accidents from happening.
On the afternoon of May 13, at Le Quang Dao Street, Trung My Tay Ward, District 12, a working group from the An Suong Traffic Police Team inspected a tractor with license plate 50H-454.. pulling a trailer with license plate 51R-506... driven by driver LVT and discovered that the vehicle had a device installed to record the driver's image but it was not working.
Next, the working group signaled to stop the passenger car with license plate 50H-395.. driven by driver LHS carrying 18 passengers, and discovered that the driver used another person's identification card to log in information while driving.
Traffic police have increased inspection and strictly handled acts of deliberately turning off journey monitoring devices by drivers specializing in transporting passengers.
Continuing to inspect the passenger bus with license plate 77F-009.. driven by driver TVT with 10 passengers on board, the working group discovered that driver T. did not use an identification card to log in information while driving, and that there was a device recording the journey on the bus but it was not working. The working group drew up an administrative violation report for the above drivers and also drew up a fine report for the vehicle owner.
According to an officer of the An Suong Traffic Police Team, the working groups of the team regularly contact with drivers of freight and passenger transport to propagate regulations on the use of driver identification cards, journey monitoring devices, and cockpit monitoring devices so that drivers know and strictly comply. This propaganda is to raise awareness of the driver team, reduce traffic accidents, especially serious traffic accidents related to passenger transport vehicles.
