Spring on the border

Việt NamViệt Nam20/02/2024

Spring has come to all parts of the homeland and country. For soldiers in green uniforms, spring is still the season of tirelessly patrolling and guarding to protect the Fatherland's borders.

At the end of the year, we visited Phuoc Diem Border Guard Station - a unit responsible for managing and protecting more than 14km of coastline stretching across two communes: Phuoc Diem and Ca Na (Thuan Nam) and having a sea area bordering Binh Thuan province. At this time, officers and soldiers of the unit are renovating the campus, flower gardens, and ornamental plants, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere to welcome the new year of Giap Thin 2024. Major Ha Tien Sang, Head of Phuoc Diem Border Guard Station happily said: The characteristics of the coastal village, especially in Phuoc Diem, Ca Na, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year, there are many festivals that attract many tourists from inside and outside the province to visit and enjoy. This is the time when crimes and social evils are likely to arise and operate quite complicatedly. To step up the fight and prevention, officers and soldiers of border posts in the province all share the same spirit of "celebrating spring without forgetting their duties", always maintaining combat readiness, coordinating and cooperating with other forces, increasing patrols and controls along the entire route to maintain stability in political security, order and social safety in the area. Before, during and after Tet, militia forces, communal police and border guards maintain close information exchange, organize patrols and controls in the area, ensuring security and order for festivals of fishing villages and activities to celebrate the Party and celebrate spring of local authorities. In addition to performing political tasks, they also organize spring celebrations and celebrate Tet with the people such as organizing banh chung cooking competitions, cultural and sports exchanges and giving Tet gifts to people in difficult circumstances. This is also an opportunity for the station to thank the local Party Committee, government and people for their support and assistance over the past year to help the unit's officers and soldiers do a good job of ensuring security and order in the area, firmly protecting the national border sovereignty in the area under their charge.

Officers and soldiers of Phuoc Diem Border Guard Station (Thuan Nam) propagate to fishermen to comply with regulations on IUU.

As someone who is close to and regularly exchanges information at sea and on shore as well as accompanies the officers and soldiers of Phuoc Diem Border Guard Station in advocacy and propaganda work, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Xuan, in Lac Tan 1 village, Phuoc Diem commune, shared: I regularly coordinate with the officers and soldiers of Phuoc Diem Border Guard Station to propagate to fishermen, especially fellow fishermen, to strictly comply with regulations on border management, to mobilize people to join solidarity groups to exploit seafood and participate in offshore fishing to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands. Along with preparing for the soldiers to celebrate Tet and enjoy spring, every year, Phuoc Diem Border Guard Station also organizes visits and presents gifts to local Party committees, authorities, and organizations, and never forgets Tet gifts to single-parent families, poor households, and fishermen in difficult circumstances, contributing to helping the people in the area have a warmer and happier Tet. On the contrary, the fishermen in my village also sent the officers and soldiers on duty during Tet a few fish and a few bottles of fish sauce to thank the Border Guard for guarding the sea route day and night to keep it safe!

Leaving Phuoc Diem fishing village, Ca Na, we traveled along the coastal road to visit Vinh Hy Border Post. Major Truong Anh Tuan, Political Commissar of the unit, shared: With the motto "3 sticking, 4 together", the unit regularly coordinates with other forces to do a good job of propaganda and mobilizing people to build a new cultural life, eliminate hunger, reduce poverty, eliminate bad customs, prevent and combat all kinds of crimes and social evils. Especially, every time Tet comes, spring comes, in addition to Tet preparation activities at the unit, officers and soldiers are also busy with activities of the program "Border Tet warms the hearts of the villagers" in two Raglai ethnic villages of Cau Gay and Da Hang.

Vinh Hai Border Guard Station has the task of managing 7 villages, which is much more difficult than other border guards in the provincial Border Guard force. Therefore, in addition to the task of managing and protecting the sovereignty and security of the sea border, the Station also undertakes many border programs and projects to help ethnic minority areas develop the economy , eliminate hunger, reduce poverty and build new rural areas. Recently, the Station has taken care of, raised and protected two children, Cao Van Hieu and Cao Van Tinh, Raglai people in Da Hang village. In addition to accepting orphaned students as "adopted children", Vinh Hai Border Guard Station is also the "focal point" for implementing the project "Border Guard officers and soldiers help children go to school". Accordingly, the Station is responsible for coordinating with local schools to care for, guide, help and provide tuition fees for 14 disadvantaged students in 7 Raglai villages in Ninh Hai and Thuan Bac districts. Mr. Cao Van Den, Head of Cau Gay Village, shared: For the Raglai people here, each new spring seems warmer when the Border Guard officers and soldiers take care of the people on normal days, and on Tet holiday, they celebrate spring with the people. The people here understand the feelings of the soldiers, because of their duties, during the spring days they cannot be near their wives, children, relatives and friends. Therefore, during Tet, in addition to the Party Committee and the government, prestigious people in the village represent the people to wish the Vinh Hy Border Guard Station a happy new year and encourage the people to enthusiastically participate in cultural and artistic exchanges, creating a joyful, warm atmosphere, uniting the army and the people.

“The station is home, the sea and islands are homeland, and the ethnic people are blood brothers”, that saying symbolizes the steadfast will of the soldiers in green uniforms, who day and night guard the peace for the people on the sea route. In the love and care of the people, the officers and soldiers of the provincial Border Guard are more confident in their guns, more determined to win, and excellently complete the task of protecting sovereignty and border security.
