Yamaha Tricity 155 – 3-wheel tilting scooter returns to Vietnam, expected price under 200 million VND

Yamaha Tricity 155 – a three-wheeled scooter imported completely from Japan – is currently in the process of being inspected and has no official price in Vietnam. However, in the Japanese market, the vehicle is listed with a starting price of 566,500 yen (equivalent to about 103 million VND).

The special highlight of the Tricity 155 is the dual front wheel system using LMW (Leaning Multi Wheel) technology. This design allows both front wheels to tilt according to the steering angle, helping the vehicle operate flexibly when cornering, while increasing stability and safety compared to traditional two-wheeled scooters.

The dual-wheel structure and independent front suspension system help the Tricity 155 maintain better grip on bad roads or when one wheel loses grip, limiting the phenomenon of wheel slippage or loss of control. Each front wheel is equipped with two forks, providing a solid and stable driving feeling.

Despite having two front wheels, the Tricity 155 is still classified as a two-wheeled motorbike according to Vietnamese standards, because the distance between the two contact centers on the road surface does not exceed 460 mm - in accordance with the definition of "dual wheels" in current regulations.

In terms of dimensions, the vehicle has length x width x height of 1,995 x 750 x 1,215 mm, wheelbase of 1,410 mm, ground clearance of 165 mm and saddle height of 770 mm. Vehicle weight is 172 kg.

The appearance of the Tricity 155 has a sporty , powerful style with a large front end. The front and rear lighting systems both use modern LED technology. The front wheels are 14 inches in size, the rear wheels are 13 inches. The vehicle is equipped with a disc brake system integrated with ABS anti-lock braking technology, UBS linked brakes and parking brakes - support when stopping on slopes or parking for a long time.

The Tricity 155 has a digital dashboard with integrated Y-Connect connectivity, allowing users to sync their phones to track messages, calls, maintenance schedules and trip logs. The 23.5-liter trunk is large enough to hold a helmet and some personal items, with LED lights to support lighting when needed.

Powering the Tricity 155 is a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled Blue Core engine, producing a maximum capacity of 15 PS at 8,000 rpm and torque of 14 Nm at 6,500 rpm - equivalent to the engine equipped on the Yamaha NVX 155 and Lexi 155.

Currently, the Tricity 155 is the only scooter model in Vietnam that has a dual front wheel design in the price range of under 150 million VND. Previously, Piaggio sold the MP3 400 Sport model for about 340 million VND, but the vehicle was larger in size and aimed at high-end customers.

Although Yamaha Vietnam displayed the Tricity 125 version at the Yamaha Expo in Da Nang , the company has not officially distributed this three-wheeled vehicle. The appearance of the Tricity 155, even through private dealers, could open a new trend for urban scooters - where safety and convenience are increasingly important to users.
