The Quyet Hung Village Mulberry Cooperative, Xuan Ai Commune, Van Yen District was established in April 2024 with 10 members. One year after its establishment, the members have always been united and built the cooperative to grow more and more. Up to now, the cooperative has 3 smart silkworm houses with an area of 350m2; the mulberry growing area since its establishment was 6 hectares and has now expanded to 10 hectares. The cooperative's profit after 1 year is 3 billion VND.
Ms. Trinh Thi Xoan - Director of the Cooperative shared: "Personally, I think that the Cooperative is an economic model that helps members develop together, is the basis for establishing chains to help consume mulberry products of members at very high prices. Members have the conditions, environment to learn, share experiences, knowledge of growing mulberry, raising silkworms and access to investment programs, projects, good capital sources, creating the premise to attract more members to join the Cooperative".
Also in Van Yen, Yen Thai Mulberry Cooperative, Yen Thai commune has actively encouraged members to change the structure of livestock and crop varieties, creating a premise to improve production efficiency and implement the direction of commodity production.
Ms. Nong Thi Thu - Director of the Cooperative said: "The Cooperative has gathered farming households to join together and cooperate in growing mulberry, raising silkworms, and trading agricultural materials. Currently, the Cooperative is developing very well, bringing high economic efficiency, stable income for members and increasingly attracting more members to participate. Up to now, the Cooperative has more than 100 participating households, with a mulberry growing area of more than 80 hectares."
Khanh Thien Agricultural - Forestry - Fishery Cooperative, Luc Yen district currently has 31 members focusing on producing and enhancing the value of Lao Mu sticky rice - a valuable native rice variety of the local Tay people. The Cooperative is directly producing 70 hectares out of 200 hectares of Lao Mu sticky rice production in Khanh Thien with products such as Lao Mu sticky rice and Lao Mu sticky rice that have achieved 3-star OCOP certification.
The cooperative has actively applied preservation and processing technology; put products on e-commerce platforms to expand the market. By choosing to join the cooperative, members have their products guaranteed, feel secure in production and are excited when products from Lao Mu sticky rice are increasingly increasing in value, bringing in better income.
In recent years, to support cooperatives managed and operated by women, enhance women's economic empowerment in the collective economic sector and cooperatives, contribute to narrowing the gender gap and achieve the target of "The rate of female directors, business owners, and cooperatives reaching at least 27% by 2025 and 30% by 2030" as set out in the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the period 2021 - 2030, in January 2023, the Government approved the Project "Supporting cooperatives managed by women, creating jobs for female workers by 2030".
In March 2024, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 435/QD-UBND approving the Project "Supporting cooperatives managed by women, creating jobs for female workers in Yen Bai province until 2030", in which the Provincial Women's Union (VWU) is assigned to be the focal point to advise, organize and implement the Project.
To effectively implement the Project, the Women's Union at all levels has actively promoted, mobilized, and supported women to participate in the development of collective economy and cooperatives. Women have become more aware of cooperatives, the role of joint ventures and linkages associated with value chains, focusing on key local products, creating opportunities for members to exchange and share experiences, and cooperate with each other to promote the linkage process, contributing to increasing product value and production and business efficiency. The Union has focused on promoting, coordinating, consulting, encouraging, motivating, and supporting production and business ideas associated with the establishment of cooperatives and cooperative groups managed by women, creating jobs for female workers.
In addition, the Provincial Women's Union has increased the mobilization of resources from projects sponsored by foreign government and non-governmental organizations; creatively applied solutions to support the establishment, maintenance, and improvement of the quality of collective economic models and cooperatives to create jobs and develop the economy for female members in rural areas. Since the beginning of 2025, the Provincial Women's Union has supported the establishment of 1 cooperative. To date, the province has 55 cooperatives owned by women.
It can be said that the establishment and support of cooperatives managed by women, creating jobs for members of the Association at all levels, and the efforts of women in developing cooperatives have created many effective cooperatives, enhanced women's economic power, and contributed significantly to poverty reduction and job creation in the locality.
