Van Chan has over 450 hectares of bamboo shoots.

Van Chan district currently has over 450 hectares of bamboo shoots, of which 400 hectares produce products mainly concentrated in the communes of Nam Lanh, Nghia Son, An Luong, Suoi Bu, Suoi Quyen... with an estimated output of 1,200 tons/year. Harvest time is from February to April every year.

Currently, Van Chan district has been implementing the Bamboo Shoot Development Project for the period 2021 - 2025 with the goal of building a concentrated bamboo shoot growing area towards commodity production. The project has supported people in 5 communes: An Luong, Suoi Quyen, Nam Lanh, Nghia Son, Suoi Bu to plant 100 hectares of new bamboo shoots, with a support level of 2 million VND/ha, funded from the district budget.

The district has encouraged communes with large bamboo shoot areas to establish bamboo shoot cooperatives and cooperatives, gradually building brands and trademarks for bamboo shoot products. After a period of building and improving product quality, Van Chan has completed the trademark registration dossier for Van Chan bamboo shoot products.

Recently, the Department of Science and Technology of Yen Bai province has granted the Decision to grant the Certificate of registration of the trademark of Bamboo shoots to the People's Committee of Van Chan district and granted the Certificate of right to use the trademark of certified Bamboo shoots of Van Chan to Nam Lanh Cooperative, households and individuals producing, processing and trading in the district.

Dao people in Nam Lanh commune, Van Chan district grow, care for and expand the area of ​​bamboo shoots.

The certification of bamboo shoots trademark is an important condition for consumers to recognize the origin and quality of Van Chan bamboo shoots, thereby helping to improve economic efficiency, create stable and sustainable livelihoods, help ethnic minorities increase their income, and actively protect and develop forests.

In the coming time, to promote and enhance the value of local brands and people of Van Chan district, we will continue to consolidate the value chain, improve production and processing capacity, and promote the Van Chan bamboo shoot brand on modern distribution channels so that the brand is not only a legal symbol, but truly becomes a driving force for rural economic development.
