Yen Bai "green production" protects the environment

In the process of development and integration, balancing economic development and environmental protection is an urgent requirement and requirement for Yen Bai province. “Green production” is also known as sustainable production, which is the creation of products in a way that reduces the total carbon emissions of the production process. “Green production” minimizes negative impacts on the environment while conserving energy and natural resources.

Comrade Tran Ngoc Luan - Director of the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment said: "Recognizing the importance of sustainable development, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and Provincial People's Committee have promptly issued and implemented a series of strategic policies and resolutions, creating a solid foundation for promoting green production. The Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025, determined to bring Yen Bai to develop rapidly and sustainably in the direction of "Green, harmony, identity, happiness", in which "green" development has been and is being strongly concretized in practice".

Yen Bai has potential and strengths in land resources, forest resources, and water resources. Although it is a small-scale economic province and does not have to take on a large responsibility for growth, Yen Bai's major responsibility in development orientation is to carry out the "mission" of preserving forest resources and water resources.

The philosophy of "green" development is to preserve and regenerate forest resources and water resources; to be a carbon reservoir, a "green lung" not only for the midland and mountainous regions of the North but also for the capital Hanoi and the provinces of the Northern Delta. One of the seven key tasks set forth by the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress to focus on leadership implementation is: to continue restructuring the economy towards green development, in line with the potential and advantages of the province; focusing on developing agriculture and forestry according to the value chain associated with building sustainable new rural areas; to develop environmentally friendly industry, becoming a driving force for rapid and sustainable economic growth; to develop green, unique, attractive tourism, becoming one of the leading tourist destinations in the Northwest region...

In recent years, Yen Bai has been actively and gradually implementing growth model innovation based on existing potential and strengths to develop production in a safe and organic direction associated with environmental protection. In 2024, Yen Bai had 6 "Green Enterprise" models and 1 "Green School" model recognized as meeting standards. In forestry production, the province always pays special attention to forest protection, development and quality improvement; the average annual forest planting area reaches over 15,000 hectares; the forest coverage rate reaches 63% in 2024.

The province has implemented assessment and certification of sustainable forest management and organic production to improve forest quality. Policies to support sustainable material forest planting with technical advances continue to be effectively implemented; the scale and area of ​​key forestry crops are increasing.

Thereby, it has attracted over 60 enterprises to invest in applying high technology and advanced technology in forest product processing to increase the added value of products and minimize negative impacts on the environment. Implementing production restructuring, every year, the province maintains and develops the planting area of ​​key crops, the greening rate of fields is increasing.

Scientific advances in breeds and farming processes are increasingly applied to production to increase productivity, quality and minimize environmental impacts. Exploiting local potential and advantages, for lowland communes and districts, focusing on developing concentrated, commodity-based livestock farming and increasing the application of advanced breeds, closed industrial livestock farming processes, and collecting and treating livestock waste on-site; for highland communes and districts, focusing on developing specialty and indigenous livestock in an organic and biosafety direction.

In addition, the province has made efforts to effectively implement Resolution No. 28-NQ/TU dated February 24, 2021 of the Provincial Party Committee on tourism development in Yen Bai province for the period 2021 - 2025, with a vision to 2030 with the goal of: "developing sustainable tourism on the basis of green growth, exploiting and promoting the potential and advantages of natural resources, biodiversity, ecological environment and cultural identity of ethnic groups in the province".

Yen Bai has been proving that economic development does not necessarily come at the expense of the environment. Instead, with determination, innovative thinking and consensus from the whole society, a green economy can go hand in hand with sustainable development, creating a quality life in harmony with nature.
