According to a quick report from the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Yen Bai province, at about 5:45 p.m. on June 3, authorities found the body of Mr. Nong Van Thang.
Heavy rain and tornadoes on the night of June 2 in Yen Bai province left one person missing and caused extensive damage to homes and property in several districts in the province.
According to a quick report from the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Yen Bai province, at about 5:45 p.m. on June 3, the authorities found the body of Mr. Nong Van Thang (born in 1975, residing in Trung Tam village, Xuan Lai commune, Yen Binh district).
The body of Mr. Nong Van Thang was handed over to his family for funeral arrangements. Earlier, at around 7:30 p.m. on June 2, Mr. Thang was fishing on Thac Ba Lake when a storm and strong winds caused the boat to capsize and he went missing.
As of 4 p.m. on June 4, heavy rain and tornadoes had collapsed and blown off the roofs of 480 houses in the districts of Luc Yen, Van Chan, Tran Yen, Yen Binh, Van Yen and Nghia Lo town.
In addition, the storm damaged more than 36 hectares of agriculture and forestry in Van Yen and Luc Yen districts; a number of electric poles and power lines were also broken and damaged.
The tornado blew off the roof of a row of buildings at Minh Tien Primary and Secondary School No. 1, Luc Yen District; Son A Primary and Secondary School, Nghia Lo Town had 35m of fence collapsed; the village hall in Nam Lanh Commune, Van Chan District and a number of factories and enterprises; a parking lot of Son Luong Commune Health Station, Van Chan District and a 100m2 concrete brick factory in Yen Hop Commune, Van Yen District collapsed. The estimated damage in localities in the province is about 1.5 billion VND.
The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of localities promptly mobilized local forces to overcome damage and stabilize people's lives; visited, encouraged, and supported families with deceased members and families whose houses had completely collapsed, had their roofs blown off, or were damaged; and helped people stabilize their housing.
At the same time, localities maintain 24/24 duty; closely monitor forecasts and warnings; promptly inform villages and hamlets so that authorities and people know and proactively prevent. Prepare response plans to ensure the safety of people's lives and property when unexpected situations occur.
