Yen Bai: Over 9,500 candidates enter the 10th grade high school entrance exam for the 2023 school year

Yen Bai - This morning - June 2, 9,928 candidates from Yen Bai entered the first day of the entrance exam for grade 10 and grade 6 of Nguyen Tat Thanh High School for the Gifted for the 2023-2024 school year.

The whole province organized 27 examination councils for grade 10 entrance exams and 1 council for grade 6 entrance exams at Nguyen Tat Thanh High School for the Gifted with 393 examination rooms.

The total number of candidates registered for the 10th grade entrance exam is 9,555, of which 361 students were admitted directly thanks to winning first, second, third and consolation prizes in provincial cultural and scientific and technical competitions. 373 candidates registered for the 6th grade entrance exam at Nguyen Tat Thanh High School for the Gifted will take the exam in 16 exam rooms; an increase of 37 candidates and 2 rooms compared to 2022.

On the morning of June 2, candidates will take the first exam, Literature, in essay format with a duration of 120 minutes. In the afternoon, candidates will take the English exam in multiple-choice format.

On June 3, students will take the Math exam with a 90-minute test time. After the Math exam, students taking the exam for Nguyen Tat Thanh High School for the Gifted will continue to take specialized subjects, taking place at the same time as the entrance exam for grade 6.

According to the Regulations, this year, students with an English certificate of level 3 or higher according to the 6-level competency framework for Vietnam or equivalent recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training and still valid until the exam date will continue to be exempted from the exam and will not be counted for the specialized English exam. Nguyen Tat Thanh High School for the Gifted has increased its enrollment quota and will not organize a preliminary selection for students taking the 10th grade entrance exam.

Today, the weather is quite hot but that does not reduce the will of the candidates and at the examination councils, the coordination between functional forces to ensure security, order, and traffic safety is smooth and tight, ensuring the exam takes place safely and seriously.

This afternoon - June 4, nearly 600 candidates in the province finished the specialized exams and 373 candidates also completed the 6th grade entrance exam at Nguyen Tat Thanh High School for the Gifted. Regarding ensuring enough textbooks for the new school year 2023 - 2024, especially for grades 4, 8, 11 - the grades using new books according to the general education program, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Hoang Minh Son, gave answers at the regular Government press conference in May 2023 on the afternoon of June 3.
