After continuously maintaining the leading position in the ranking of the most popular messaging platforms in 2024, Zalo continues to assert its dominance in the latest Q1/2025 report published by Decision Lab.
Specifically, Zalo achieved a penetration rate of up to 79% in the “Messaging Platform” group, far surpassing competitors such as Facebook (69%), Messenger (54%), Viber (7%) and WhatsApp (6%). This result shows the strong appeal of the “Made in Vietnam” messaging platform, reflecting the preference of Vietnamese users for domestic products over international applications.

In the first quarter of 2025, Zalo continued to affirm its number one position with a preference rate of 51%, far surpassing Facebook (21%) and Messenger (20%). Notably, Zalo is the most popular messaging platform among all three main user generations in Vietnam: Gen X, Gen Y and Gen Z, demonstrating its widespread appeal and diversity in user groups.
This is the 18th consecutive time Zalo has achieved the favorite platform ranking among all three user generation groups Gen X, Gen Y and Gen Z since 2020. In addition, Decision Lab's Q1/2025 report also recorded Zalo's strong growth in other areas such as Freely browsing entertainment content and News.
With millions of daily active users, Zalo not only plays the role of the main communication tool but also develops many more useful features, meeting the diverse needs of users from individuals to businesses.
This achievement also marks an important step forward in the platform's development journey, as it increasingly consolidates its superior position compared to competitors in the messaging and social networking sector in Vietnam.
Notably, Zing MP3 — a member of Zalo's technology ecosystem — also recorded an impressive achievement when it rose to second place in the list of most popular online music streaming applications in Vietnam.
With a usage rate of 52%, Zing MP3 is only behind YouTube (76%), while the app's popularity rate is also 21%, second only to YouTube with 46%. This result shows the growing strength of the Zalo ecosystem in many digital entertainment fields.
