(Dan Tri) - Officers and soldiers of Air Force Regiment 916 (Air Force Division 371 - Air Defense - Air Force Service) are actively practicing with 9 helicopters at Hoa Lac airport for the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory.
According to the Plan to organize forces to participate in the parade and march in the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), there will be an Air Force welcoming flight consisting of 12 helicopters (9 official, 2 reserve, 1 search and rescue) carrying the Party flag and the National flag flying over the stands. According to Dan Tri reporters on the morning of April 9, 9 helicopters in charge of the official demonstration flight in the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory were brought to the parking lot by officers and soldiers of Air Force Regiment 916 to perform training flights. To ensure the successful implementation of the training flight mission, all preparations are carried out step by step. The task force prepares before the helicopters take off such as: Aviation engineering; logistics (cars, electric vehicles, air conditioning, etc.), information engineering, ensuring meteorological conditions... Once these units have finished checking and reported to the commander that everything is guaranteed, the helicopters are allowed to carry out the mission. The technical team re-checked the helicopter's tail wing to ensure it met safety standards to perform the flight mission. Colonel Ta Mong Vu - Commander of Air Regiment 916 (Air Division 371) - received the aircraft from the technical team after completing the pre-flight inspection process. Colonel Ta Mong Vu was also the one who carried out the mission of checking the weather and meteorology in the training area. "After receiving the plan from the Service and the Division on the mission of training flights, joint training, general rehearsal and performing the mission of flying to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, we saw that this was an important mission for the Regiment. Thereby, we continued to build plans, select pilots and flight crews to carry out the mission, with a larger number of troops and more aircraft," said Colonel Ta Mong Vu. Before each training flight, a helicopter will conduct a meteorological inspection of the training area. If the weather is acceptable, the superior will allow the flight crew to conduct the training flight. The command board and pilots met to discuss the training flight plan after completing the meteorological check.
According to Colonel Ta Mong Vu, from the experience of performing at previous events, most recently the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2022, the unit has learned many lessons, especially those related to training, planning, selecting flight crews, pilots, selecting experienced people to perform tasks, and training from simple to complex. Flight training has been carried out from simple to complex. First, the formation of 2 helicopters is increased, then the formation of 3 helicopters, 4 helicopters, and after the flight training is smooth, the flight will continue with the formation of 6 helicopters. For the formation of 9 helicopters for the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, there will be 3 formations (each formation of 3 helicopters). To carry out this task, each formation of 3 helicopters needs to fly well and skillfully, then the formation will be more effective. The selection of experienced instructors to accompany the pilots to reinforce the flying techniques and choose the most effective flying position. Up to now, it has basically ensured that the formation of 3, 6 and 9 helicopters can be flown. Flying in formation is quite complicated, requiring pilots to be highly focused, have a training process, ensure health and perseverance. The leaders of the 3 formations need to understand each other, have a firm grasp of the flight plan, flight route and related content to ensure the mission goes as well as possible. The parade and march at the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory began with 21 artillery rounds to the National Anthem, followed by a performance by 9 helicopters carrying the Party and National flags. This was also an occasion to demonstrate the strength of the people's armed forces, the spirit of national solidarity; affirming the determination of the entire Party, people and army to successfully carry out the cause of building and firmly defending the Fatherland.
