This Edtech delegation is visiting and working in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi from October 22 to 24, aiming to promote digital transformation cooperation in the education sector between the two countries.

The program is part of the Vietnam Landing Pad Initiative organized by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), aiming to connect Australia's education technology capacity with Vietnam's rapidly growing education ecosystem, thereby supporting the implementation of the goal of digital transformation in the education sector.

This morning, October 22, the delegation attended the Vietnam - Australia Digital Transformation in Education workshop, held in Ho Chi Minh City.

Ms. Emma McDonald - Deputy Consul General of Australia in Ho Chi Minh City - emphasized that education, skills and innovation are key areas in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Australia.

“Through Vietnam Landing Pad, we are connecting Australia’s innovation capabilities with Vietnam’s digital transformation aspirations, aiming to improve the quality of teaching and learning, while preparing the young generation with the necessary skills for the future,” she said.

According to Ms McDonald, Australian education technology is globally recognised for its innovation, quality and reliability.

From AI-powered learning platforms to smart classroom solutions and learning management tools (LMS), Australian Edtech businesses are shaping the future of global education, with Vietnam seen as a leading strategic and dynamic partner in the region.

Among the 16 leading Australian education technology companies present in Vietnam this time, many names have affirmed their global position in the Edtech field.

Like Canva, an online graphic design platform familiar to hundreds of millions of users in more than 190 countries; Hackersjack offers a cybersecurity education program that combines 3D videos and virtual reality (VR)...

Some other names such as eReflect, with the product Wordela - an AI-integrated English vocabulary learning platform - is supporting more than 1.5 million users in 182 countries; Education Centre of Australia (ECA) combined with OpenLearning to develop an online learning system and a vocational training model applying AI...

During the three-day working trip in Vietnam, the delegation will meet with representatives of education management agencies, schools, universities and industry partners to exchange international experiences, share practical implementation models and seek cooperation opportunities.

Ms McDonald said this visit is a concrete step in implementing the Australia-Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040, in which the digital economy, education and skills are identified as key priorities.

“Australia is proud to be a trusted partner of Vietnam in its journey of education reform. By working closely together, we can build sustainable models that strengthen both countries’ education systems and prepare our young people for a rapidly changing world,” she said.

Applying Edtech requires focus and key points

From the perspective of local management, Mr. Nguyen Ha Nguyen, Deputy Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that in the context of limited resources, the most important thing is to correctly identify the focus and spearhead of digital transformation in education in general and the application of Edtech in particular, to avoid spreading, waste and reducing efficiency.

He said the two top priorities in digital transformation of education are to identify the right subjects that need digitization and choose the appropriate digitization method, on the basis of data that must be "correct, sufficient, clean and alive".

The Department has also identified six main pillars to implement digital transformation in the field of education and training, including digital awareness, digital institutions, digital infrastructure, digital human resources, information safety and security, and digital transformation activities.

According to Mr. Nguyen, the fundamental factor for this entire process is a synchronized database system between departments of education and training, along with the support of technology solution providers, to ensure connectivity, efficiency and information security throughout the industry.
