This morning, June 3, in Hanoi , the National Press Awards Council opened the final round of the 19th National Press Awards - 2024.
Leaders of the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission chaired the judging of the final round of the National Press Awards.

According to Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, in 2024, many press agencies have innovated, approached modern journalism technology, developed multi-platform, multimedia journalism and creative journalism forms. It is also the first year that the National Press Awards added two new genre groups: Multimedia Journalism and Creative Journalism.
In addition to central press agencies, some local newspapers and radio stations have also made significant changes in the way they choose topics and themes and implement them in new, modern ways, which are highly appreciated for their quality and form of expression.
The preliminary jury selected 183 works out of 1,913 entries in 13 categories for the final round.
The final jury members visited the exhibition area of the final round press photo works.

Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh said that the honored works must be exemplary in both content and form of expression, addressing truly important issues of the country, ensuring political -ideological values, orientation, honesty and having positive social impacts.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association and Chairman of the Preliminary Jury, this year's entries closely followed major topics from politics, economics, culture, society, security, defense and all aspects of life in 2024. The press promptly and vividly reflected important events and issues of the country with prominent topics.
Many hot social issues were also mentioned frankly such as: the damage from Typhoon Yagi, deforestation, overexploitation of mineral resources, water pollution; the destruction of smuggled and counterfeit goods; the problem of driving tests; the Thich Minh Tue phenomenon; human trafficking and the darkness in charity shelters; examples of good people and good deeds with noble, convincing and touching acts were also portrayed quite clearly.
Of the 183 works entered into the final round of the National Press Awards, 21/274 works were selected for the News, Reflection, Interview (Print Newspaper) Awards; 10/78 works for the Editorial, Commentary, Special Essay (Print Newspaper) Awards; 15/178 works for the Reportage, Investigative Report, Journalism, and Notes (Print Newspaper) Awards; 10/107 works for the Press Photo Awards.
