This is an important event, recognizing the unique cultural values of the ethnic communities in the Ngoc Linh mountainous region in the two districts of Tu Mo Rong and Dak Glei, where there are currently more than 3,000 hectares of Ngoc Linh ginseng and thousands of households are preserving this precious ginseng variety.
"Folk knowledge about Ngoc Linh ginseng is a valuable knowledge system that has been formed and passed down for generations in the local ethnic minority communities. This knowledge system not only includes understanding how to identify ginseng plants and ginseng growing areas, but also techniques for propagating, caring for, harvesting ginseng, as well as applying ginseng in treating diseases and restoring health. In addition, there are also customs, practices and spiritual rituals associated with forests and ginseng plants, creating a unique and sacred identity of Ngoc Linh land," said Mr. Vo Trung Manh.

Decision No. 1656 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. |
Being recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage not only brings honor to the ethnic minorities in Kon Tum but also opens an important turning point in the strategy of preserving and developing the Ngoc Linh ginseng region. This is the basis for the locality to be prioritized in resources and policies in preserving and promoting the cultural values associated with ginseng. At the same time, this title also helps to enhance the value of Ngoc Linh ginseng, not only as a precious medicinal herb but also as a cultural resource, creating economic value and building a unique identity for the locality.
Mr. Manh shared that the locality hopes that in the coming time, the folk knowledge of Ngoc Linh Ginseng will become an important foundation for developing community tourism and eco-tourism. Tours of ginseng gardens under the forest canopy, along with stories about ginseng, traditional rituals, and folk planting and care methods will be introduced to visitors, bringing a unique experience.
This is a new direction to help local people increase their income, while contributing to heritage conservation, forest protection and building the image of Kon Tum ginseng region into a typical destination on the national tourism map.
Currently, the two districts of Tu Mo Rong and Dak Glei have a total area of Ngoc Linh ginseng growing up to more than 3,000 hectares. Thousands of households here are participating in preserving and developing this precious ginseng variety. With high economic value, from 120-260 million VND/kg for mature ginseng products and about 300,000 VND/seedling, Ngoc Linh ginseng has helped the Xo Dang ethnic people and local communities change their lives and escape poverty sustainably.
