Over the years, Zalo has witnessed steady growth, affirming its position as the leading messaging platform in Vietnam. By the end of 2024, the number of monthly active users at Zalo reached 77.8 million with about 2 billion messages sent per day. After only the first 9 months of 2025, the platform officially achieved new records, reaching 79.2 million monthly active users, with about 2.1 billion messages sent per day.

According to Decision Lab's latest "The Connected Consumer" report (Q2), Zalo continues to consolidate its leading position among messaging platforms in Vietnam in terms of penetration rate and preference rate.
In the category of messaging platforms for daily communication, Zalo continues to affirm its role as the main connection channel for Vietnamese people. The report shows that 80% of users regularly use Zalo to communicate, surpassing other communication platforms in Vietnam such as Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, Viber. Facebook and Messenger recorded usage rates of 69% and 53% respectively. The remaining applications such as YouTube, Instagram, WhatsApp or Viber currently only account for 6-15% of usage.

Along with the growth in usage, the report also noted that Zalo is the most popular messaging platform in Vietnam. The rate of liking Zalo reached 53% - an increase of 2% compared to the previous quarter, higher than the second place Facebook with 22% and Messenger with 17%.
Notably, Zalo continues to be the leading communication platform in terms of preference among all generation groups. 65% of Generation X users (44-64 years old) prefer Zalo for daily communication while only 21% of Generation X users prefer using Messenger and 7% prefer using Facebook. The preference rate for using Zalo among Generation Y (28-43 years old) is 55% and among Generation Z (18-27 years old) is 37%. The results show that Zalo not only meets the connection needs of middle-aged and elderly users but also maintains a stable attraction with young users - a group that frequently changes their habits and usage platforms.

The above positive results contribute to clearly depicting the growth picture of Zalo in 2025. In addition to the impressive growth indicators in the number of users, Zalo plays an increasingly important role in the communication activities of Vietnamese people - from connecting family, work, emergency channels during natural disasters, to supporting administrative procedures and accessing essential public services.
