DTO - April 27, 2005 marked an important milestone in the history of Dong Thap province's healthcare with the establishment of Dong Thap Province Military-Civilian Hospital. Formerly the Infirmary, Logistics Department under the Provincial Military Command, the hospital has grown steadily, gradually affirming its central role in healthcare for officers, soldiers of the armed forces and the people. Up to now, the hospital has taken on a new, spacious appearance with a modern infrastructure system, medical equipment is increasingly invested, better meeting the needs of patient admission and treatment.

CONTINUOUS DEVELOPMENT
The year 2010 marked an important turning point in the hospital’s development history when it implemented the Health Insurance (HI) Medical Examination and Treatment Project. This decision not only brought new challenges but also opened up opportunities for strong development. With the motto “Serving the Armed Forces and the People with all our heart”, in just a short time, the number of patients coming to the hospital for examination and treatment has increased significantly. The hospital’s reputation and brand have been increasingly affirmed, becoming a bright spot in the combined military-civilian medical model of Military Region 9 and the whole country.
Every year, the hospital receives and prescribes for more than 200,000 patients. Currently, on average, 900 - 1,200 people come for examination and treatment every day, and the bed occupancy rate is always high (over 88%). The number of people participating in health insurance and choosing Dong Thap Military-Civilian Hospital as their initial medical examination and treatment facility has also increased significantly over the years.
Ms. Vo Thi Kim Thoa, a resident of Nhi My Commune, Cao Lanh District, said: “I have been receiving treatment at the Provincial Military Hospital for a long time and I feel very satisfied. The doctors and nurses here are very dedicated and attentive. The nurses are always willing to give me guidance when I need it, the doctors are very cheerful, making me feel comfortable.”
Currently, the hospital has 4 functional departments, 11 clinical and paraclinical departments. With more than 70% of the staff and civil servants having university and postgraduate degrees, the hospital possesses a high-quality human resource team, playing a key role in improving professional quality and building solid trust in the armed forces and the people. The hospital always ensures the work of admission, receiving examination and treatment for officers and soldiers of the provincial armed forces, units stationed in the area and the people, contributing significantly to ensuring the healthy number of the provincial armed forces reaching 98% or more according to the plan of the superiors.

This is a testament to the continuous efforts of the hospital's staff, civil servants and workers.
Captain, Doctor Duong Quoc Dinh - Director of Dong Thap Military-Civilian Hospital, shared: “In the coming time, we have identified a number of key tasks such as: modernizing hospital management, enhancing digital transformation and applying effective management software, implementing electronic medical records. We will focus on developing specialized techniques, training high-quality human resources, especially a team of specialized doctors, and investing in modern medical equipment. In addition, the hospital will continue to reform the examination and treatment process; focus on patient satisfaction, reduce waiting time, increase professionalism and efficiency; promote professional cooperation with upper-level hospitals and private medical units to improve professional qualifications and share resources”.

BRIGHT SPOT IN MEDICAL SOCIALIZATION
In June 2013, the hospital launched the Artificial Kidney Unit, marking an important step forward in the socialization of healthcare. From 15 initial dialysis machines, the unit now has 20 machines, providing regular treatment for more than 100 patients with kidney failure. This not only helps patients receive treatment locally, reducing the burden of costs and travel, but also opens up hope for many families with relatives suffering from serious illnesses.
In 2021, in the context of the complicated developments of the Covid-19 pandemic, Dong Thap Military-Civilian Hospital was converted into a facility for receiving and treating Covid-19 patients. Despite facing countless difficulties, dangers and shortages, all hospital staff and employees unanimously overcame difficulties, successfully treating over 1,860 Covid-19 patients, contributing significantly to the province's fight against the epidemic.
The hospital always performs well in social work, considering it a noble duty and responsibility, actively implementing the journey "The Army joins hands for community health" and social activities, gratitude, charity... Every year, the hospital coordinates with related sectors to provide care for policy beneficiaries, meritorious people, periodic health check-ups for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; coordinates to organize medical examinations, treatment, and free medicine for the poor in remote areas and policy families in districts and cities in the province (an average of over 200 people/examination per district). In particular, every year, the hospital also participates with the Provincial Military Command's Working Group to organize medical examinations and provide free medicine to the people of the Kingdom of Cambodia (an average of over 400 people/year), contributing with superiors to maintain the close solidarity between the people of Dong Thap province and the people of neighboring provinces of the neighboring country.
