On October 30, the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training announced that 61 out of 102 commune and ward level units have sent reports on teachers’ unpaid overtime pay. Of these, 23 communes and wards confirmed that they still owe teachers overtime pay, totaling more than 35 billion VND.
A representative of the Department of Education and Training said that the unit is urging the remaining localities to send reports for synthesis and consultation with the Provincial People's Committee to direct a final resolution, ensuring the rights of teachers.

Previously, the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training issued an official dispatch requesting localities and educational institutions to report in detail the situation of paying teachers for extra teaching hours according to the direction of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee.
Through initial review, the situation of late payment mainly occurred at kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools directly managed by the People's Committees of communes and wards. For example, Nguyen Duc Canh Primary School (Buon Ma Thuot Ward) owed more than 6,500 lessons, equivalent to nearly 1.2 billion VND; Vo Thi Sau Primary School owed nearly 3,000 lessons, about 582 million VND.
These schools said that despite having made many petitions to all levels, they have not yet received funding to pay teachers.
Schools under the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training such as high schools and vocational education centers - continuing education centers do not incur debt for extra teaching hours.
Previously, on October 10, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province issued an official dispatch requesting the Department of Education and Training to report on teachers' "owed" money for extra teaching hours. At the same time, the Department of Education and Training was requested to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to inspect and handle the matter immediately, ensuring the legitimate rights of the teaching staff.
According to Decree 60/2021 and Decree 111/2022 of the Government, the cost of paying for extra teaching hours is arranged in the annual regular expenditure estimates of each unit. Schools must proactively balance the budget to pay properly, ensuring the rights of teachers. However, up to now, many schools in Dak Lak have not paid, making teachers worried.
