From early morning on June 1, thousands of students and parents flocked to the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences , University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi to attend the 2025 enrollment exam.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Minh (Thanh Tri, Hanoi) said that this morning, the father and son woke up at 5am to prepare everything, from personal belongings to documents and drinking water. "I even personally checked my son's school bag several times, even though I knew he had prepared everything carefully since last night," said Mr. Tien.
His daughter took the exam for the IT specialized class - the class with the highest "competition" rate this year at 1/8. Mr. Minh admitted that he was just as nervous as his daughter. On the way to the exam site, he took the opportunity to send gentle words of encouragement, both to reassure his daughter and to reduce her stress.
"I hope my child will do well in this specialized exam, not only to have more opportunities to get into his dream school, but also to help him reduce the pressure for the upcoming city-wide public 10th grade entrance exam," said this parent.

Present at the exam site, Hoang Van Khang, a student from Cau Giay Secondary School, wore a uniform covered with loving handwriting. It contained signatures, wishes, and encouragement from classmates.
"The shirt is not only a final year memory, but also a spiritual talisman that helps me gain more confidence and steadfastness to conquer the exam with the highest determination," Khang said.

In the 2025-2026 school year, the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, will enroll 525 students in grade 10 with 5 specialized groups including Mathematics, Information Technology, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology; each specialized group has 105 students.
Of the 3,000 applications the school received, 855 were for the IT major, with a "competition" ratio of 1/8.1; meaning 8 students took the exam, only 1 was accepted. The second place was for the Math major with 603 applications, with a "competition" ratio of 1/5.7. The Biology major had the lowest "competition" ratio of 1/3.9.
Also this morning, nearly 3,400 candidates took the entrance exam for grade 10 at the Foreign Language Specialized High School, University of Foreign Languages, Hanoi National University. This year, the English major continues to have the largest number of candidates registered with 1,611 applications; however, the "competition" rate in the Russian major is the highest.
Specifically, the "competition" ratio of the English major is approximately 1/5.1; that is, about 5 students take the exam to get 1. In the Russian major, the "competition" ratio is approximately 1/7. The "competition" ratio of the French, Chinese, German, Japanese, and Korean majors is 1/6.9; 1/6.6; 1/4.5; 1/4; 1/6.4, respectively.
The High School for Natural Sciences will announce results in June, and the High School for Foreign Languages before July 15.
