40 billion VND to upgrade Tam Ky stadium, Quang Nam team will soon not have to practice

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, in 2022, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province approved the Tam Ky Stadium Upgrade Project with a total cost of 40 billion VND from the State budget, with completion date in 2023. The project is invested by the Quang Nam Provincial Investment Project Management Board, including items such as building new lighting systems, remaking the grass of the stadium, pitch, A stand and functional rooms, and housing for youth teams.

However, the project has not yet been implemented due to the need to comply with the Public Investment Law, which has caused the procedures to be prolonged. The Quang Nam Provincial Investment Project Management Board said that at the end of December 2023, a contractor had been selected to begin the project in early January 2024. "In the first phase, priority will be given to upgrading the lighting system to meet the requirements of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF), and the Organizing Committee of Vietnam Professional Football Tournaments to bring the Quang Nam team to compete at Tam Ky Stadium in time to serve fans in the province. After that, depending on the training and competition stages of the team, the remaining items will be constructed. The Provincial Investment Project Management Board requests an extension to the construction of the items until 2025 to comply with the procedures of the Public Investment Law and the Bidding Law," Mr. Hong added.

Before the 2023-2024 V-League season started, the Quang Nam team was not granted a license to compete by the tournament's Organizing Committee because the lighting system at Tam Ky Stadium did not reach the minimum brightness (1,200 lux). Therefore, the Quang Nam team had to borrow Hoa Xuan Stadium from neighboring Da Nang as their home stadium while waiting for the Tam Ky Stadium lighting system to be upgraded.

Quang Nam team will play at home instead of borrowing Hoa Xuan stadium.

After 7 rounds, Quang Nam played 4 matches at Hoa Xuan "home field" with the results of 2 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss and a big 4-1 victory over Hoa Binh in the National Cup qualifying round. However, coach Van Sy Son still felt dissatisfied when mentioning his team's "home field" advantage. "Although they were playing at home, Quang Nam did not have the opportunity to practice and get used to the field as usual. Even before the match with Hai Phong team (in round 7), we only had 1 session to practice getting used to the field before the match day, but due to the rain, we had to switch to Military Zone 5 field to keep the grass of Hoa Xuan field for the match day", Mr. Son expressed.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, if the construction process goes smoothly and the weather is favorable, it is expected that in round 11, Quang Nam will return home to welcome The Cong Viettel on February 27, 2024.
