42 projects won the Vietnam Science and Technology Award in 2024

42 outstanding works were honored at the 2024 Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Awards Ceremony.

On the evening of May 28, at the Hanoi Opera House, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, in coordination with the Ministry of Science and Technology , the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, held the closing ceremony and awarded the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award 2024.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central organizations, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Honorary Chairman of VIFOTEC Fund;

Mr. Le Quang Huy, Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee - Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Science , Technology and Environment;

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Science and Technology; Mr. Huynh Thanh Dat, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; Mr. Chau Van Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; Mr. Nguyen Tuong Lam, Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union.

Intellectuals are an important resource that brings prosperity to the country.

In his opening speech, Dr. Phan Xuan Dung, Party Secretary, President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations; Chairman of the VIFOTEC Foundation's Board of Directors, Head of the Award Organizing Committee, quoted General Secretary To Lam's statement at the Conference meeting with delegates, intellectuals, and scientists in December 2024: "... Only science, technology, and innovation are the ways to help us catch up, progress together, break through, and surpass ourselves and the world."

Dr. Phan Xuan Dung, Party Secretary, President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations; Chairman of the VIFOTEC Foundation Board of Directors, Head of the Award Organizing Committee delivered the opening speech at the ceremony.

“The successful organization of the award over the past 29 years once again affirms that intellectuals are the force representing the intelligence and talent of the country and people, and are one of the most important resources and driving forces bringing breakthroughs and prosperity to the country.

The Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and the Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technical Innovation have truly become a reliable address and an important bridge for Vietnamese science and technology to access advanced science and technology in the world," affirmed Dr. Phan Xuan Dung.

Mr. Phan Xuan Dung said that in 2024, the Organizing Committee of the Award decided to reward 42 scientific works; at the same time, reward 5 units and 7 individuals with outstanding achievements in propaganda, dissemination and organization of the Award.

On this occasion, the leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union awarded the Creative Labor Certificate to the authors who won high prizes and the Creative Youth Badge to the authors of the Union age.

Sending congratulations to the award-winning authors, Chairman Phan Xuan Dung hopes that the authors will continue to contribute and be more successful in bringing the country firmly into a new era, an era of development, prosperity, and standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers.

That will contribute to the successful realization of President Ho Chi Minh's wish, which is also the wish of the entire nation: "Knowledge is a precious asset of the nation. Without knowledge cooperating with workers and farmers, the revolution cannot succeed and the cause of building a new Vietnam cannot be completed."

Hopefully, in the process of national innovation and development, the class of scientists who stand united in the ranks of the Fatherland Front, under the leadership of the Party, will continue to have many meaningful scientific works, making great contributions to the cause of construction, development and increasingly prosperous country", Dr. Phan Xuan Dung expressed.

Over the past 29 years, the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award, assigned by the Vietnam Foundation for Supporting Technical Creativity (VIFOTEC) as the standing agency, has been very successful and gradually affirmed its reputation in the field of science and technology innovation domestically and has been highly appreciated by international friends.

The Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award, held annually, has attracted the active participation of scientists and technologists nationwide. The award-winning projects have been applied in production, bringing high socio-economic efficiency, contributing to promoting business production, improving productivity, quality, reducing product costs, replacing imports and creating a technology market serving life, security and national defense. There have been 3,252 participating projects and 1,116 winning projects.

Launching the "Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award 2025"

Mr. Bui The Duy, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, affirmed that the awards presented today are truly worthy, recognizing and honoring the authors' tireless efforts on the journey of scientific and technological innovation over the past years.

“With the issuance of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo, we will achieve great breakthrough successes, actively contributing to the cause of building an increasingly rich, democratic, prosperous, civilized and happy country in the new era - the era of national growth,” Mr. Duy emphasized.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Duy launched the "Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award 2025".

The 2025 Award will focus on (06) key technology fields such as: (1) Automation mechanics (2) Materials technology (3) Information technology, Electronics and Telecommunications (4) Biology serving production and life (5) Technology to respond to climate change, protect the environment and rationally use resources (6) Technology to save energy and use new energy.

Deadline for receiving applications: October 15, 2025 at Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technical Innovation - 53 Nguyen Du, Hanoi.

42 award-winning works include: 5 first prizes, 9 second prizes, 13 third prizes, 15 consolation prizes.

1 - First Prize in the field of Automation Engineering belongs to the project:

Research, design and manufacture of incendiary bullets - 23 x 152 mm (type Ƃ3T) by Lieutenant Colonel, MSc. Hoang Kim Thanh, Major, MSc. Hua Minh Thanh, Captain, MSc. Nguyen Van Hieu and colleagues - Factory Z113 - General Department of Defense Industry, Ministry of National Defense

2 - First Prize in the field of Energy Saving and New Energy Use belongs to the project:

Design of well completion kit in oil and gas well repair work with complex conditions by the authors: Engineer Nguyen Quoc Hung, Dr. Nguyen Van Khuong, Master Dinh Trong Huy and colleagues, Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Corporation, Project 01 & 02 (PVEP Blocks 01 & 02) - Vietnam Oil and Gas Group

3 - First Prize in the field of Materials Technology belongs to the project:

Research and technology transfer of production of mono-base propellant for 23mm anti-aircraft ammunition (ZU-23) and 30mm naval ammunition (AK-630) by Lieutenant Colonel, Dr. Pham Quang Hieu - Institute of Propellants and Explosives - General Department of Defense Industry, Ministry of National Defense

4 - First Prize in the Technology Field to respond to climate change, protect the environment and rationally use resources belongs to the project:

The solution for recycling used PET plastic “Bottles-to-Bottles” by MSc. Huynh Ngoc Thach, KS. Dai Trung Quan, CN. Le Van Ty - Duy Tan Recycled Plastics Joint Stock Company, Ho Chi Minh City.

5 - First Prize in the field of Information Technology, Electronics and Telecommunications belongs to the project:

New generation transmission security equipment system for satellite information network by authors: MSc. Ngo Thi Kim Lien, MSc. Nguyen Van Tu; Dr. Pham Manh Tuan; MSc. Nguyen Van Giang – M2 – Government Cipher Committee.
