5 A prizes in the Vietnam Handicraft Product Competition all come from Hanoi

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan awarded A prizes to the authors participating in the Vietnam Handicraft Products Contest.

The Vietnam Handicraft Product Contest received 500 products and works from more than 200 authors and groups of authors from all three regions. Of which, the North had 349 products from 160 authors; the Central had 89 products from 45 authors, and the South had 62 products from 31 authors.

The entries were divided into groups: Ceramics and glass with 101 products; weaving, embroidery, knitting, crocheting 102 products; rattan, bamboo, leaves 110 products; lacquer, mother-of-pearl inlay, fine art wood 114 products and other groups with 74 products (horn, mother-of-pearl, stone carving, metal; flowers, paintings...). The oldest participant was Mr. Nguyen Quang Xuan (79 years old), an artisan making Uncle Ho's rubber sandals. The youngest skilled craftsman (18 years old) participated in the group of woven rattan and bamboo products.

As a result, the Organizing Committee selected 45 winning products, including 5 A prizes; 10 B prizes; 15 C prizes and 15 D prizes.

In particular, 5 A prizes all belonged to works and authors from Hanoi city, namely: Thiem Duc Tue Dang lamp stand by author Nguyen Trong Nghia; hand-embroidered peony vase painting by author Nguyen Xuan Duc; elliptical tea table by author Hoang Van Hanh; egg-inlaid lacquer cabinet by Dong Phuong Investment and Trade Company Limited; and phoenix gold box by author Khuat Van Tuan Anh.
