5 fundamental factors for artificial intelligence to become a new driving force for Da Nang's development

What is the future for AI in Vietnam, sharing international experiences, cooperation opportunities and AI applications in Da Nang. These are the important contents at the workshop "Artificial Intelligence - New driving force for Da Nang's development".

On May 9, at the Furama International Convention Palace, the People's Committee of Da Nang City organized the Workshop "Artificial Intelligence - New driving force for Da Nang's development". The event was organized to concretize the implementation plan of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation; in which, aiming at the goal of developing and applying advanced technology, especially AI.

The event attracted the attention of nearly 400 delegates in person and online, including leaders of the City People's Committee; Departments, branches; representatives of diplomatic agencies, international organizations, technology experts, businesses, investors, training and medical facilities and the innovative startup community in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) at home and abroad.

The workshop was organized into 2 sessions, the plenary session took place in the morning, focusing on strategic discussions on the development orientation and application of AI in Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular. The thematic session "Artificial intelligence infrastructure of Da Nang city" took place in the afternoon, focusing on assessing the current status and development orientation of technology infrastructure and AI data in Da Nang based on international standards and world experience.

In his opening speech, Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, assessed: “The fourth industrial revolution is profoundly changing all aspects of economic and social life globally. In particular, artificial intelligence is emerging as an important platform to promote digital transformation, innovation and increase competitiveness for each country and each locality. AI is an inevitable trend, opening up many new opportunities for cities like Da Nang to optimize management, socio-economic development and improve the quality of life for people. Therefore, the workshop, with the gathering of many leading businesses and experts at home and abroad, is an opportunity for Da Nang to listen to contributions, in order to perfect an AI development plan with highly practical and feasible solutions, in line with world trends and the city's specific conditions.”

At the opening session, many experts shared their opinions on future issues for AI in Vietnam and recommendations for Da Nang city; international experience in developing artificial intelligence; experience in developing AI in Singapore; application of AI/GenAI in public administration; application of AI in teaching and learning; proposed model for developing a smart Da Nang city.

Dr. Christopher Cuong Nguyen, Founder and Chairman of Aitomatic, Inc. said. “Da Nang City in particular and Vietnam in general have great potential to attract technology enterprises to build and develop. In particular, the 5 most important factors that need to be focused on include: establishing a separate Innovation Center; building a capital market to support technology enterprises; building a technology ecosystem in people's lives; establishing a venture capital fund and enhancing training, attracting high-quality technology human resources. Specifically, Dr. Christopher Cuong Nguyen believes that with the attention of the city's leaders, Da Nang can build a specialized, in-depth AI technology center aimed at attracting global technology enterprises to set up specialized research centers, typically research on self-driving car technology today".

In addition, regarding the application of AI/GenAI in public administration, Mr. Anthony Tuan Phan, Founder and CEO of AIAIVN, commented: “Da Nang City is a pioneer in applying technology in public administration management and has achieved many positive results in recent times. However, with the rapid development of artificial intelligence today, Da Nang after the merger will have a very large scale. This poses many challenges in the management and implementation of the public administration sector. AIAIVN has many solutions that have been and are being developed appropriately, leading to the construction of large databases, AI applications in management, procedure settlement, information screening, etc. At the same time, AIAIVN has been and is coordinating with the city to apply robots to the activities of visiting the Da Nang Museum. This is an important testing ground to expand more practical applications in the city's operations”.

In order to be more specific about the proposals as well as show the potential of Da Nang city in building and applying AI. The speakers discussed many issues surrounding the topic "Da Nang - Potential destination for AI startups" and showed the important potential in terms of geographical location, infrastructure, community ecosystem and especially the attention and facilitation of the city's leaders in developing AI.

Within the framework of the Workshop, the exhibition introduces AI technology products, AI ecosystems, and policies to encourage AI development in Da Nang city./.
