50 years of heroic memories: Paying tribute to the outstanding children in the big family of the Academy named after beloved Uncle Ho

NDO - In the atmosphere of the whole country excited and proud towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics organized a meeting and paid tribute to the contributions of veteran comrades, former youth volunteers, and relatives of martyrs' families who directly contributed to the resistance war against the US to save the country - the children who wrote the great heroic epic of the nation.

Attending the meeting were comrades: Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Academy, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Duy Bac, Permanent Deputy Director of the Academy; Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Phuc Lam, Deputy Director of the Academy, comrades who led the Academy through the periods, along with nearly 600 comrades representing war invalids, relatives of martyrs, veterans, former police officers and former youth volunteers, representatives of leaders of units in the form of direct and online connection to units throughout the Academy system.

Exactly half a century ago, under the wise leadership of the glorious Party and the great President Ho Chi Minh , millions of the nation's outstanding children, with iron determination, carried out Uncle Ho's wishes before he passed away. Heeding the call of the Fatherland, millions of young people enlisted in the army, fighting on all battlefields in the North, the South, the Laos battlefield, the Cambodia battlefield. Millions of other young people joined the police force, the youth volunteers to fight against the US, save the country, taking on specific tasks at the enemy's key attack points, along the traffic route from North to South, to ensure the smooth supply of human and material resources from the great rear in the North to the great front line in the South.

It is impossible to list all the symbols of Vietnamese revolutionary heroism in the resistance war against the US, to save the country of the soldiers, the people's police, the youth volunteers and all of our people. That is the symbol of 10 girls at Dong Loc intersection who heroically sacrificed to ensure smooth traffic at a key point of destruction by the US air force.

That is the image of the liberation soldier fighting and sacrificing heroically on Tan Son Nhat runway, which has been immortalized in the poem of poet Le Anh Xuan, creating the Vietnamese posture carved into the century.

That is the image of the army corps moving at lightning speed, even faster, bolder, even bolder, advancing to completely liberate the South, unifying the country in the historic Spring 50 years ago, since the Central Highlands campaign on March 10, 1975, through the campaigns to liberate Hue, Da Nang and the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign.

In just 55 days and nights, with the spirit of "one day equals 20 years", our army and people advanced to complete the cause of liberating the South, unifying the country, and fulfilling the wishes of beloved President Ho Chi Minh.

Contributing to the great victory of the resistance war against the US to save the country were the efforts and blood of millions of soldiers, policemen, and youth volunteers. Among them, there are those who will forever remain on the battlefield - from the sunny Truong Son to the vast Central Highlands, from the immense Mekong River to the red soil of the Southeast.

There are those who are lucky enough to return, but carry countless wounds from enemy bombs and bullets, from the lingering pain of Agent Orange, and carry with them wounds that will never heal in their souls. We are always proud of the wounded soldiers, veterans, former police officers, and former youth volunteers - living flames, lighting up great lessons of patriotism and steadfast revolutionary spirit for today's and future generations.

Among the veterans, former police officers, and former youth volunteers, many comrades returned to work at the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics after the country was reunified. They continued to promote the tradition of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers” in new fields of work, research, teaching, service, etc., contributing to the completion of the political tasks of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics.

It can be affirmed that those comrades left the resistance war against the US, returned to the Academy and became "a golden generation" that made the name and reputation of the Academy; tirelessly contributed to the work of training and fostering cadres for the political system; advised and advised the Party and the State on many major policies and strategies; actively cared for and trained the next generation of the Academy's career; many teachers were veterans, former police officers, and former youth volunteers who left a very good image for cadres, students, and students studying in the Party school system, contributing to beautifying the glorious tradition of the Academy over the past 75 years.

As time passed, many veterans, former police officers, and former youth volunteers were granted retirement benefits by the Party, the State, the Party Committee, and the Board of Directors. Many comrades continued to contribute to the organization of the Academy's former teachers' association. Many war invalids were sick due to their wounds recurring when the weather changed, but their hearts remained intact with Uncle Ho's teachings: War invalids are disabled but not useless, always demonstrating the resilience and optimism of Uncle Ho's soldiers.

Among them, there are comrades who died quite early after retirement such as: Comrade Nguyen Duc Lu, Former Director of the Institute of Religion and Belief; Comrade Nguyen Khanh Bat, Former Director of the Institute of Ho Chi Minh and Party Leaders; Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Huyen, Former Director of the Institute of Political Science; Professor, Dr. Tran Thanh, Former Director of the Institute of Philosophy...

Speaking at the meeting, Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Academy, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, was moved to say: “I would like to express my sincere gratitude and deep gratitude to the generations of heroes and martyrs of the nation; and to be grateful for the sacrifices and contributions of the veterans, former police officers, former youth volunteers, war invalids, sick soldiers, and relatives of martyrs who have been and are working in the Academy system. We are full of confidence that, under the leadership of the Party Central Committee, promoting the heroic and victorious tradition of the great victory of the Spring of 1975, our entire Party, army, and people will continue to move forward on the path of building and developing a rich and civilized Vietnam.”

The sacrifices and contributions of the delegates attending the meeting, some of whom lost their beloved fathers while fighting against the enemy, may have never seen their fathers' faces, they wished to be hugged by their fathers once, just once, but they could never have it, despite being disadvantaged compared to their peers.

The relatives of martyrs who have worked and are working at the Academy always strive to improve themselves, worthy of the sacrifice of their fathers and mothers for the independence of the nation, for the oath of unification of the North and the South. Each comrade and delegate meeting today is a shining symbol of patriotism, of the indomitable will of Vietnam. These are sacred values ​​that each generation of us must cherish, preserve and continue.

Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics is always proud and deeply grateful for the great contributions of comrades. Comrades are not only living witnesses of history, but also a source of encouragement and inspiration for today's young generation to continue to practice, study and contribute to the noble revolutionary ideal.

The Academy Director affirmed that the Party Committee and the Board of Directors will always focus on educating the revolutionary tradition for the young generation of the Academy, building generations of Academy cadres to follow the heroic tradition of the nation, of a generation: "Splitting Truong Son to save the country/With hearts full of hope for the future"; building a team of leading experts, a team of young scientists who strive to study, research, cultivate and act, to be worthy of the blood sacrifice of previous generations, worthy of the trust and love that comrades have entrusted to today's and future generations so that the country can enter a new era of development.

50 years have passed, our country has made miraculous progress, on that basis, the 13th National Congress of the Party set two 100-year goals, which are the goal of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Party's founding, our country becoming a country with high average development, moving towards celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, our country becoming a developed country with high income.

The 14th National Congress of the Party will continue these goals. We must definitely move forward to achieve these goals so that the efforts, blood and sacrifices of millions of compatriots and soldiers in the resistance war against the US to save the country will not be wasted, and President Ho Chi Minh's wish to build an independent, free, peaceful, democratic, prosperous, civilized and happy Vietnam will come true.

In addition, the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the Academy request that heads of units, Party committees, trade unions, and Veterans Associations continue to pay attention to and encourage comrades who participated in the armed forces in previous resistance wars, recent wars to protect the Fatherland, and relatives of martyrs in a practical, specific, and regular manner, not just on July 27, August 19, or December 22.

The world situation in recent years and at present has undergone rapid and unpredictable changes, posing challenges to our nation on the path of development. To overcome these challenges and achieve the set goals, requires our entire Party, army and people to unite under the leadership of the Party, take advantage of favorable opportunities brought about by the world situation, repel risks and challenges, and build and develop a strong and prosperous Vietnam.

In 2025 and the following years, the task of the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people is to well implement Resolution 18-NQ-/TW of the 13th Party Central Committee on a number of issues on continuing to innovate and reorganize the apparatus of the political system to be streamlined and operate effectively and efficiently .

By implementing this resolution well, we will create new opportunities, opening up strong development for localities as well as the whole country, to achieve high economic growth, escape the middle-income trap and become a high-income developed country by 2045.

Many difficulties lie ahead, but we believe that with high political determination, with the joint efforts and consensus of the entire Party, people and army, our country can completely break through, rise up and reach new heights.

The meeting was not only an opportunity to review the heroic history of the nation but also an opportunity to honor and show gratitude for the sacrifices and great contributions of war invalids, relatives of martyrs, veterans, former police officers and former youth volunteers - the "outstanding sons" who have been and are continuing the cause of building and defending the Fatherland under the flag of Ho Chi Minh.

This is also a strong affirmation of the heroic tradition of the great victory of Spring 1975, and at the same time adds motivation for our entire Party, army and people to continue firmly on the path of building a strong, prosperous and civilized Vietnam.
