Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online on the evening of November 27, Mr. Dang Quoc Quan - Director of Hoc Mon General Hospital (HCMC) - said that on the same afternoon, the hospital received 60 cases, all of whom were workers of Viva Vina Chi Company Limited (Dong Thanh commune), suspected of food poisoning after lunch.
There are currently 24 cases hospitalized for inpatient treatment, all in stable condition. The remaining 36 cases have been sent home for further monitoring by doctors.
It is known that the lunch on November 27 provided by the unit providing meals for workers at the above company included the following dishes: fried orange fish served with fish sauce, boiled white cabbage, and sour soup with bean sprouts and okra.
"The hospital has taken vomit, gastric juice, feces... from the patients to send for testing to find the cause," Mr. Quan added.
On the same day, a representative of Thu Duc Regional General Hospital also said that they had received 19 cases of students from a Thu Duc Ward High School suspected of food poisoning.
Of these, 2 cases of grade 2 anaphylactic shock were hospitalized for monitoring. These cases all had allergic symptoms, rash, and swelling.
The hospital has reported to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health and the City Center for Disease Control.
