8 end-line hospitals support to turn Vung Tau General Hospital into a new medical pole

SKĐS - 8 end-line hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City have signed a cooperation agreement to provide comprehensive professional support to Vung Tau General Hospital to standardize professional capacity, contributing to the creation of a multi-polar health system.

In the context of Ho Chi Minh City developing according to the multi-polar, multi-center mega-urban model, the health sector has determined that Vung Tau General Hospital has a strategic medical position, a healthcare fulcrum for more than half a million local residents and tourists. At the same time, the institute also undertakes the task of researching and implementing marine medicine in the near future.

In order to improve the medical capacity of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau region, today (November 13), the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health held a signing ceremony for comprehensive cooperation and professional support between city hospitals and Vung Tau General Hospital for the period 2025-2028.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health commented: "The signing of cooperation and comprehensive support for Vung Tau General Hospital by the city's end-level hospitals is a very important step to standardize professional capacity, improve hospital management, increase autonomy in handling serious cases and contribute to creating a multi-polar health system with uniform quality for the whole of Ho Chi Minh City in the new situation".

At the signing ceremony, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health assigned Gia Dinh People's Hospital as the core hospital along with 7 specialized hospitals of the city to focus on supporting professional development, technology transfer and supporting the construction of a modern hospital management model for Vung Tau General Hospital.

Accordingly, Gia Dinh People's Hospital needs support in developing specialties in Emergency, Resuscitation, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Anesthesia, Artificial Kidney, Diagnostic Imaging, Rehabilitation, and Pathology;

Children's Hospital 2 is assigned to support Pediatrics, focusing on Pediatric Resuscitation and Neonatal Resuscitation; Tu Du Hospital will support Obstetrics, prioritizing obstetric emergencies and training on-site staff.

The Orthopedic Trauma Hospital will support training in Orthopedic Trauma to improve the capacity of Trauma Emergency; Binh Dan Hospital will support training in Surgery (Digestive, Urology, Thoracic...).

The ENT Hospital, Eye Hospital, and Dental Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City will support specialized training; provide professional support from basic to advanced levels, and consider in-depth development appropriate to reality.

In addition, Gia Dinh People's Hospital is assigned to support Vung Tau General Hospital in standardizing human resource management, quality management, risk management, accompanying the hospital in the development roadmap to become a Grade I hospital, supporting digital transformation towards building a smart hospital.

The Ho Chi Minh City health sector hopes that Vung Tau General Hospital will soon become the city's new medical pole, meeting the needs of high-quality medical examination and treatment for coastal urban residents, with the capacity to handle emergencies, deploy many specialized techniques and be a model of the connection between nuclear hospitals and satellite hospitals in the city's multi-polar health system.

Vung Tau General Hospital was newly invested in construction and put into operation from 2022 with a scale of 420 beds, 24 departments, 600 medical staff and workers.
