For the first time, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City in collaboration with the Sofia Art Education Center organized the contest “Viet dieu trang thanh”, to encourage high school students to express their talent, creativity and pride in traditional music . This is an activity within the series of programs “Ho Chi Minh City Education Festival 50 years”, marking the journey of half a century of cultivating knowledge, personality, culture and art for students in the city.
Unlike other school music competitions, “Viet dieu trang thanh” is designed in a multi-layered model, combining talent competition - intensive training - artistic exchange. Contestants not only perform but also learn, experience and understand more deeply the value of traditional music. They can choose to sing, dance or play traditional musical instruments, individually or in groups.

The contest consists of three rounds with many rich activities:
Round 1: Folk music, takes place from November 11 to 30, contestants send videos , the Organizing Committee selects 30-50 excellent performances for the next round.
Round 2: Bright Vietnamese Moon, is an intensive training phase where contestants are guided by artists, folk music teachers and art advisors. The final ranking night is scheduled to be held on January 22, 2026 at Ben Thanh Theater.
The jury includes famous people such as Meritorious Artist Hai Phuong, Head of the Department of Traditional Musical Instruments, Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music; People's Artist Ha The Dung, former Principal of Ho Chi Minh City Dance School; Musician Pham Tuan Hung, Artistic Director of Sofia Art; and Cai Luong artist Vo Minh Lam.
The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City determined that “Viet dieu trang thanh” is not only a contest, but also a pioneering step in the journey of bringing traditional music closer to the young generation, helping students understand more, love more and be more proud of Vietnamese cultural identity.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Education Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045, the city aims to comprehensively develop students, fostering creativity, integration skills and artistic talent.
By 2030, 100% of high school students will be oriented to know how to play at least one art or musical instrument.
