Hanoi National University has just announced the first round of the HSA 2024 assessment exam taking place on March 23 and 24, 2024.

According to statistics from the Examination Council, this HSA exam took place at 8 exam locations including: Hanoi National University Examination Center, University of Technology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment, Banking Academy, Thai Binh University and Nam Dinh University of Technical Education.

A total of 11,014 candidates took the exam (more than 98% of registered candidates), a much higher rate than the same period last year. Some exam sites had 100% of candidates present. During the two exam days, 9 candidates were suspended from the exam due to violating the Hanoi National University's Competency Assessment Examination Regulations.

This year is also the first time the testing center has deployed candidate identification technology at all testing locations. Candidates are required to present their Citizen Identification Card and have their image identified when completing the exam procedures.

HSA score reports will be sent to candidates via post 1 week after the exam. The VNU Testing Center will announce the score distribution for the March and April exams in early May 2024.

The Hanoi National University Examination Center also confirmed that it does not publish any publications related to exam preparation. All advertising materials on the internet are unofficial and do not serve the purpose of the competency assessment exam.

The next exam will take place on April 6 and 7 in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Hung Yen, Thai Binh , Thanh Hoa, and Ha Tinh, with more than 18,000 candidates registered.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the Examination Center, Hanoi National University, said that including 6 HSA exams this year, 95,000 candidates have completed their exam session selection, reaching 99% of the expected seats. Candidates registered from 58 provinces and cities nationwide. Localities with a large number of candidates are Hanoi (36%), Nam Dinh (6.7%), Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An (5.1-5.8%).

The competency assessment exam was organized by Hanoi National University from 2015 and 2016, then stopped until 2021 to reopen. The current HSA exam is done on a computer, in 195 to 199 minutes, with a maximum score of 150. The exam consists of three parts with objective multiple-choice questions (choosing answers), fill-in-the-blank questions in the fields of Mathematics (50 questions, 75 minutes), Literature - Language (50 questions, 60 minutes), Natural and Social Sciences (50 questions, 60 minutes). Parts 1 and 3 will have 1-3 additional test questions, not scored.

Candidates can check their exam scores and receive their certificates after 14 days. Currently, 90 schools have said they use the results of the Hanoi National University's aptitude test for admission. Of these, 17 military schools are using the test scores for the first time.

Last year, more than 90,000 candidates registered, the number of candidates was 87,000, the top scorer scored 133/150 points. The minimum score for receiving applications by this method of schools is usually from 70 to 85 points.

There are currently more than 10 exams nationwide to assess capacity and thinking. Of these, the exams of the two national universities are the largest in scale. Ho Chi Minh City National University said that in the first round of the exam, more than 96,000 candidates registered, also a record high so far.
