In the process of development, industrialization and modernization of the country, the automobile manufacturing industry is considered one of the important, leading technology industries with strong influence, creating a driving force to promote the development of other industries and fields such as iron and steel, metallurgy, electronics, chemicals, new energy... Our country is in the process of strong development with more than 100 million people, the automobile industry plays a very important role.

Implementing the Strategy for the Development of the Vietnamese Automobile Industry to 2025, with a vision to 2035 approved by the Prime Minister , and with policies that have been continuously created, supplemented, and perfected, over the past 10 years, the Vietnamese automobile manufacturing industry has achieved positive and remarkable results, but overall, it has not yet met expectations and desires.

The biggest limitations of the Vietnamese automobile manufacturing industry include the low localization rate and the heavy dependence on imported components. Each year, the automobile industry spends nearly 10 billion USD on importing components; the competitiveness of exported products is still weak and incipient... This leads to trade imbalance, lack of domestic added value, failure to create a domestic supply chain and especially failure to accumulate high-tech production capacity, foreign currency flows abroad... These limitations and weaknesses stem from many different subjective and objective causes.

To ensure the rapid and sustainable development of the Vietnamese automobile manufacturing industry, to direct "Made in Vietnam" automobile products to the export market, especially in the new context and situation when our country is entering an era of wealth, prosperity, and happiness - the era of national development, the Vietnamese automobile manufacturing industry needs to be more carefully prepared to have breakthroughs and new leaps, first of all, to increase the localization rate of automobile products manufactured in Vietnam in the true sense. This is an objective requirement and also an urgent and urgent demand.

This is even more urgent and at the same time more grounded with the recent "pillar" resolutions of the Politburo , especially the resolutions on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation; on international integration; on private economic development; on law making and enforcement; on ensuring national energy security...

So, what do we need to do, what policy mechanisms are needed to develop the Vietnamese automobile manufacturing industry quickly and sustainably, what solutions are needed to increase the localization rate of automobile products - products with the "Made in Vietnam" brand as well as increase the competitiveness of products when aiming at export markets? On the morning of September 18, the Government Electronic Information Portal organized a seminar "Localization of the automobile industry with an independent and autonomous economy " with the participation of leaders of policy-making agencies, National Assembly Deputies, experts, and businesses to analyze, evaluate, discuss, and give opinions on this issue.
