Amanda Nguyen, the first Vietnamese woman to fly into space, will visit Vietnam in June.

According to Fulbright University Vietnam, Vietnamese-American social activist and scientist Amanda Nguyen will come to Vietnam in early June to participate in a number of community and educational activities.

Amanda Nguyen is one of the typical faces of the generation of young Vietnamese people who have succeeded abroad.

She was a researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), graduated from Harvard University and worked at NASA, where she participated in major scientific projects such as the Kepler planet exploration mission and the space shuttle program.

Besides her scientific career, Amanda is also widely known as a social activist.

She is the founder of the non-profit organization Rise, which successfully campaigned for the enactment of the Sexual Assault Victims' Bill of Rights in the United States, a law that was later referenced by the United Nations in international policymaking.

Amanda Nguyen's tireless efforts in the social field have brought her name to many awards and global recognition. She was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2019 and was honored by TIME magazine as "Woman of the Year" in 2022.

This past April, Amanda Nguyen made history by becoming the first woman of Vietnamese or Southeast Asian descent to fly into space.

On this flight, she brought 169 lotus seeds from Vietnam, a plant considered a symbol of life, wisdom and enduring vitality.

Amanda's flight also received attention from the Vietnamese Government. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dung - Vietnamese Ambassador to the US - was present to witness the event and on behalf ofPresident Luong Cuong, presented a congratulatory letter to Amanda.

In Vietnam this time, Amanda Nguyen will be the honorary speaker at the 2025 graduation ceremony of Fulbright University Vietnam. This is the first time she has participated in a major educational event in Vietnam in an official role.

This year's graduation ceremony carries the theme "Roots & Wings", honoring the students' journey of maturity between the intersection of local and international values.

Amanda Nguyen's talk at Fulbright will be livestreamed for the community to watch.

Apart from the graduation ceremony, the detailed schedule of Amanda Nguyen's activities in Vietnam has not been widely announced.
