Garnacho ends his relationship with MU. |
According to the Daily Mail , the Portuguese tactician had harsh words for Garnacho, declaring that the 20-year-old should "pray to find a new club this summer".
Amorim's statement hinted that he was ready to let Garnacho sit out next season, if he could not find a new destination.
The source of the tension is said to have started after the Europa League final in Bilbao, where Manchester United lost to Tottenham. Garnacho was unhappy at not being named in the starting line-up, and later did not hesitate to criticise the team's "terrible season". In addition, his brother also publicly expressed his displeasure on social media, claiming that the club had "abandoned" Garnacho.
Ruben Amorim's drastic move is part of a plan to completely overhaul the Man United squad this summer. Amorim's plan is receiving strong support from Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the INEOS group. Selling Garnacho would not only resolve internal rifts but could also bring in a significant amount of money, especially in the context of the "Red Devils" failing to qualify for the Champions League and needing to reinvest in their squad.
Chelsea and Napoli are understood to be keeping a close eye on Garnacho, while Manchester United are said to be willing to listen to reasonable offers, although the starting price is set at around £60m.
Meanwhile, in preparation for a future without Garnacho, Man United have targeted Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo and have reached a preliminary agreement with Matheus Cunha after activating a £62.5m release clause from Wolves.
