These are images we captured during a Vietnamese language class for Lao officials and Lao students studying at Son La College (Son La province).

As previously arranged, at exactly 2:30 PM on May 6th, we arrived at Son La College, where 351 officials and students from 9 provinces of the Lao People's Democratic Republic were studying.

We were greeted by Mr. Lo Van Nghia, Deputy Head of the Training Department at Son La College. He shared: During the holiday, Lao students also returned home for the break, and only a few remained. The school still sent them a special supplement from Nhan Dan Newspaper for them to experience and learn from. After the holiday, the school integrated the content of the Nhan Dan Newspaper supplement into Vietnamese language classes for Lao officials and students.

While attending a Vietnamese language class for Lao students, we witnessed a lively atmosphere with approximately 40 Lao students using their smartphones to scan QR codes to access content in a special supplement to the Nhan Dan Newspaper.

During the Vietnamese language class, the teacher introduced the Lao students to the content of a special edition of the Nhan Dan Newspaper.

Ms. Sa Thi Hang Nga, a Vietnamese language teacher for Lao students, introduced: "This is a Vietnamese language class for students from nine northern provinces of Laos. The students in the class just experienced vivid 3D films about the heroic victory of the Vietnamese army and people on the historic day of April 30, 1975. They were very excited and even asked to see it again. Currently, they are practicing scanning QR codes with their phones. Because some students haven't installed the app to view the footage, others who are familiar with it are guiding each other."

After experiencing the history through a projector and directly on her phone, Phonepasevt Toy, a student in class K23D at Son La College, excitedly said: "This is the first time I've experienced Vietnamese history through a printed newspaper with digital technology like this. I find it very interesting and impressive to learn about history through the combination of a paper newspaper and modern technology."

Pointing to a newspaper page with a QR code featuring an image of our tank crashing through the gate of the Independence Palace, Lao student Phonepasevt Toy excitedly said: "I really hope to continue experiencing and learning about Vietnamese culture and history in my classes through publications like this, because the vivid and engaging images make it easy for us to understand and remember Vietnamese terms related to history."

Building B3 of Son La College houses a Vietnamese language class for officials from various departments and agencies of Laos. The atmosphere in the classroom is lively, with 3D images and vivid sound depicting the heroic spirit of the Vietnamese army and people marching towards Saigon on April 30, 1975, projected onto two supplementary pages that were combined to form a diorama pasted on the whiteboard.

Some Lao students said this was their first time experiencing digital technology while learning about history in a printed newspaper like this.

When we arrived, we saw about 40 officials from various departments and agencies of 9 northern Lao provinces intently watching a screen displaying a special supplement of the Nhan Dan Newspaper posted on a board.

Vivid sound and 3D images recreating the historical moment of the Vietnamese nation on Liberation Day, the day of national reunification, were projected in a classroom space of about 50 square meters, captivating the attention of the Lao students, making them feel as if they were present at that heroic battle…

In addition to donating the special supplement, the Nhan Dan Newspaper's representative office in Son La also collaborated with Son La College to guide Lao officials and students on how to experience the publication using their mobile phones.

Holding a special supplement of the Nhan Dan Newspaper in his hand, Sedthiphonh Serth, a student from class K14B and currently a teacher at Luang Prabang Provincial Teacher Training College in Laos, said: "Earlier, on the morning of April 30th, I watched the Vietnamese military parade celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of Vietnam. I was truly moved and proud that Vietnam invited the military parade contingent from the Lao People's Democratic Republic to join us. This further affirms the solidarity and special friendship between the two countries, not only during wartime but also in peacetime."

The supplement commemorating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country includes 8 special pages of information, recreating a part of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign with the milestone of capturing the Independence Palace.

Readers can interact with the supplement through augmented reality (AR) technology or 3D mapping. Readers can also create 3D maps at home following the instructions.

Teacher Hoang Thi Minh Hien shared: "Most Lao officials and students studying in Vietnam have already read many printed Vietnamese newspapers, but this is the second time they have experienced them through vivid 3D images and used the technology of Nhan Dan Newspaper to interact with printed newspapers on their phones. Through this experience, they all hope to continue experiencing more fields in this format during their time studying in Vietnam."

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the Reunification of the Country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), Nhan Dan Newspaper launched a media campaign to honor this glorious historical milestone of the Vietnamese nation.

Lao officials studying Vietnamese at Son La College were very excited to experience the special supplement of Nhan Dan Newspaper.

One of the highlights of the Nhan Dan Newspaper's initiative is a special exhibition set up right on the newspaper's premises, next to Hoan Kiem Lake, under the famous ancient banyan tree in the heart of Hanoi.

At the exhibition, in addition to displaying 11 front pages of Nhan Dan Newspaper published on April 30th from 1975 to 2020, Nhan Dan Newspaper also distributed free copies of its special supplement commemorating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country at its headquarters at 71 Hang Trong, and at its permanent offices and representative offices nationwide.

This is the second time that Nhan Dan Newspaper has presented special editions to Lao officials and Lao students studying at colleges and universities in the area.

In Son La, in addition to donating special supplements of Nhan Dan Newspaper to officials, Party members, citizens, students, armed forces, and schools, Nhan Dan Newspaper also presented this special publication to Lao officials and Lao students studying at schools in Son La province, including Son La College.

Teacher Nguyen Xuan Thang, Vice Principal of Son La College, emphasized: "Through direct experience with publications commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Liberation, and now the publication commemorating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, followed by information disseminated through mass media and social platforms, we find the approach of a printed newspaper belonging to a Party newspaper agency to be very innovative and creative."

From 2001 to the present, the school has provided Vietnamese language training and specialized education to nearly 4,000 students from 9 northern provinces of Laos. Currently, the school has 351 Lao officials and students studying Vietnamese and specialized subjects. In the future, we hope that Nhan Dan Newspaper will continue to cooperate with the school to disseminate special publications on historical topics such as those using digital technology. Not only Vietnamese students, but also Lao students are very enthusiastic and interested.
