Emperor Thieu Tri (1807-1847) was the third emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty. He is regarded by scholars as a unique literary figure, not only because of the enormous volume of poetry he left behind—over 5,000 pages in his "Imperial Poetry Collection" —but also because of the depth of his thought and his unique creative style. The emperor was also the poet who composed in the most poetic forms in Vietnam, and simultaneously created many new poetic styles unprecedented in medieval literature.
For Emperor Thieu Tri, poetry was not merely the leisurely pastime of a king, nor was it a mere art form for recitation. His poetry served as a means of expressing moral principles, reflecting his ideals of governance, and affirming his scholarship. His poems consistently reflected Confucian ideals, an academic spirit, and even a rare rationalist attitude towards traditional literature. Through this work, the author has presented a comprehensive and systematic overview of Thieu Tri's outstanding characteristics in his various roles: He was the most prolific poet in Vietnam to date; the poet who utilized the most poetic forms in the medieval period; the creator of the most poetic forms in medieval literature; the poet who explored the most themes and topics in his works; and the poet who pondered and reflected most deeply on poetic creation.
The special publication "Poems of Emperor Thieu Tri - The Pinnacle of Verbal Art" (published by Thaihabooks and Literature Publishing House) is the result of many years of research and exploration of the treasure trove of Han Nom court poetry by Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Hai Trung, Deputy Director of the Hue Imperial City Relics Conservation Center.

The work was published by Thaihabooks and Literature Publishing House.
