Emperor Thieu Tri (1807-1847) was the third king of the Nguyen Dynasty. He is recognized by researchers as a unique literary monument. Not only because of the large amount of poetry he left behind, more than 5,000 pages in the Royal Poetry Collection , but also because of the depth of thought and unique creative style. The king was also the poet who composed in the most poetic forms in Vietnam, and at the same time created many new poetic forms, unprecedented in medieval literature.
Poetry for King Thieu Tri was not a pastime of a leisurely emperor, and even less so did not use art to recite poems. His poetry was a means of expressing morality, demonstrating the ideal of governing the country and affirming education. In his poetry, there were always Confucian ideals, academic spirit, including a rare rational attitude when looking at traditional literature. Through the work, the author has presented a general and systematic presentation of the outstanding characteristics of Thieu Tri in many roles: He was the person who wrote the most poems in Vietnam up to the present time; the person who composed and used the most poetic forms in medieval literature; the person who created the most poetic forms in medieval literature; the person who wrote poems on the most thematic content; the person who thought and worried the most about poetic composition.
The special publication Emperor Thieu Tri's Poetry - the pinnacle of linguistic art (published by Thaihabooks and Literature Publishing House) is the result of many years of research and exploration of the royal Han Nom poetry treasure by Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Hai Trung, Deputy Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center.
The work is published by Thaihabooks and Literature Publishing House.
