Forecasting the development of cold air in the next 24 to 48 hours, the Center said that on land, around the afternoon and night of May 10, cold air will strengthen, affecting other places in the Northeast, North Central and most places in the Northwest, then affecting some places in the Central Central.

Inland, the wind changes direction to northeast level 2-3; coastal areas have northeast wind level 3-4, gusting to level 6.

From the night of May 10, the weather in the North and North Central regions will turn cool, and some mountainous areas in the North will be cold. The lowest temperature in this cold air mass in the North and North Central regions will generally be from 20-23 degrees Celsius, and some mountainous areas in the North will be below 18 degrees Celsius. According to the Center, due to the influence of cold air compressing the low pressure trough, on the day and night of May 10, the Northern region will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain in some places. From May 10 to the morning of May 11, in the area from Thanh Hoa to Quang Binh, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain in some places; in the Central Central region, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain in some places.

Thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind can affect agricultural production, break trees, damage houses, traffic works and infrastructure. Heavy rain can cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes; heavy rain in a short period of time can cause flooding in urban areas and industrial zones.

Cold air can cause a sharp drop in temperature that can affect health, such as increasing respiratory and cardiovascular diseases due to a sudden drop in temperature.

Warning of flash floods, landslides, and land subsidence due to heavy rain or water flow in the provinces of Ha Giang, Lao Cai, and Lam Dong.

In the bulletin issued at 4:30 a.m. on May 10, the Center warned that in the next 6 hours, there is a risk of flash floods, landslides, and land subsidence on steep slopes and small streams in Lao Cai: Bao Yen, Muong Khuong, Simacai, Sa Pa town, Van Ban; Ha Giang: Bac Quang, Quang Binh; Lam Dong: Cat Tien.
